SELLER INSIGHT

What is your favourite room of the house and why?

We love the kitchen because it’s such an adaptable, social space which feels cosy in the Winter and opens up into the garden throughout the summer months. The island really was a dream come true for us when we designed it, it is all really useable space with lots of storage and space to prepare meals. The modern conveniences in the kitchen such as the induction hob and the in-built speakers mean that it is a pleasure to spend time in there. We’ve had many happy times in this room.

Who do you think would be the next ideal owner?

We would love a young family to live in the house, with such a family-orientated kitchen and space to create a playroom. We can’t imagine a nicer community and environment to bring children up in. Equally, a more mature couple would fit well into the community. With so many hobbies catered for in the area and the community pub with its associated activities, it really is the perfect house for any demographic!

What do you love most about the house and why?

We first fell in love with the light and spacious feel of the house, it’s rare to find a property with such generous hallway areas and rooms with multiple aspects. We also love the approach to the house from either side of the hamlet and it’s also within easy walking distance of Marlborough whilst feeling idyllic and rural.

What do you love about the local community?

Having moved to Ogbourne Maizey from outside the area, we weren’t sure what to expect but we have never known such a tight-knit community and group of people who are always so willing to help each other out. Without a doubt, what we love most is that when you go for a walk you are always guaranteed to see a friendly face along the way. There’s an authentic feeling of connectedness that is really special.

How easy is it to commute from here?

The beauty of the area is that it feels remote but is well connected by road or rail for commuters. Swindon, Pewsey and Bedwyn train stations are close by and the motorway network is a few minutes down the road. The other advantage is that if the motorway is ever busy, there are plenty of cross-country routes to choose from.

What made you choose this property over others that were available at the time?

It seemed like great value, considering the aforementioned proximity to Marlborough’s conveniences whilst also affording us the space and peace and tranquility of the surrounding AONB countryside. We have both thoroughly enjoyed living in the house and feel lucky to have called Ogbourne Maizey our home for the last four years!
