Lodge House
Church Street| Old Hurst | Huntingdon | Cambridgeshire | PE28 3AF
With open field views to the southwest-facing rear, this beautifully presented village home offers spacious accommodation, including an open-plan kitchen.
A generous entrance hall with a return staircase and a flagstone floor opens onto the three reception rooms, including the sitting room, which features a wood-burning stove and large sliding doors to the rear garden. The open-plan kitchen is the heart of this wonderful home, with a central island and an open breakfast and family area designed to capture the views perfectly through a picture window and bifold doors connecting the inside and outside seamlessly. There is also a utility room and a cloakroom on the ground floor. Upstairs, the four double bedrooms all benefit from built-in wardrobes, with the principal and second bedroom both having en-suites, while a family bathroom serves the remaining bedrooms. With open trusses and ample head height, the loft, running the whole length of the house, could easily be converted into further accommodation.
Outside, a large gravel driveway provides ample parking and access to the garage and storage area. The southwest-facing rear garden captures the sun throughout the day, with a large patio leading to a lawn. A well-stocked border and post-and-rail fence blend the garden with the open fields beyond.
Lodge House is an executive, self-build, detached property in a rural location which comes complete with office, double garage, and great views.
“My husband’s parents built the property themselves and he grew up here as a child before coming back to stay three years ago as a family of five. It’s been a really lovely, large home for us all and we’ve redecorated throughout, modernised the bathrooms, and replaced the windows during our time here, so it’s more suitable for modern lifestyles,” say the owners.
“There are some scenic footpaths and pretty countryside walks nearby, including one which ends up at the pub in Broughton.. We have a farm shop in the village that stocks locally sourced produce and all of the day-to-day essentials or it’s just a 10-minute drive into Huntingdon or St Ives where we can access a wider range of amenities.”
“The property has superb views of the surrounding fields and quite often the cows will come over to the fence for some attention and a little chat. We have a big patio area which is perfect for relaxing and entertaining. We’ve celebrated an 18th birthday here in the garden, as well as informal get-togethers with family and friends.”
“The property is spacious with well-proportioned rooms that are ideal for entertaining. We tend to spend most of our time in the kitchen / dining area that has a large dining table and comfortable sofas. It has wonderful views of the garden and we just open up the bifold doors to let the outside in. The sitting room comes into its own in the winter as it’s a welcoming and cosy space with a log burner.”*
