Old Forge Cottage
Milton Lilbourne | Pewsey | SN9 5LQ
“This beautiful thatched cottage oozes character and charm and benefits from a large enclosed garden, period features, workshop and an excellent village setting”
Old Forge Cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Milton Lilbourne, approximately 5 miles east of Pewsey and 8 miles west of Marlborough. The village sits on the eastern edge of the Vale of Pewsey and is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with many properties in the village dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The village has a thriving community with a village hall, which hosts monthly pub nights, a church and a farm shop. The neighbouring village of Easton Royal has a primary school, whilst Pewsey provides for all day to day amenities, including a direct rail service to London Paddington with services taking around 1hr. The market towns of Marlborough and Devizes are also within easy reach.
Ground Floor:
The original cottage has been extended over the years and now offers a large, flowing reception space, which can be broken down into distinct separate areas. An ideal space to entertain guests, but also with the ability to have a cosy night in front of the gorgeous fireplace with open fire.
A farmhouse style kitchen with Aga provides the perfect heart to the home and the separate utility means noisy white goods can be kept out of earshot. The additional room to the ground floor is currently in use as a study/therapy room but could make an equally good playroom or with some adaptation a ground floor bedroom with an en-suite installed, which could then function independently from the rest of the house as there is a separate entrance door.
First Floor:
The main bedroom is double aspect and filled with natural light. The sense of space is emphasised by the vaulted ceiling and there is ample room for large furniture too. Two further bedrooms exist at this level, one with an additional room off it which amongst other uses, could be a great study, walk-in wardrobe, or children’s bedroom.
The gated gravelled driveway provides ample parking for several vehicles, and the large workshop in the garden gives excellent storage. The garden is laid predominantly to lawn and is enclosed with hedging giving good levels of privacy.
Location:
A short walk around Milton Lilbourne will demonstrate what a beautiful village it is for those who are unfamiliar. With a mainline railway station at Pewsey connecting London in around an hour, it is in a wonderfully convenient location, but with all the charm and character of a rural Wiltshire village.
