Seller Insight

Piglets Place is a superb barn conversion, and the present owners knew immediately that after months of searching and viewing, that this was, “The One.’ They describe how the house’s charm, its rural location with views from the rear garden stretching for miles across the rolling countryside, and the fact they were only five miles from the market town of Winslow, meant they could enjoy the rural peace without being isolated. Piglets Place has been their very “Happy Home,’ for the past thirteen years.

It is difficult to imagine that this stunning, modern home, one of three in the courtyard, may have once been the lambing sheds for Hogshaw Farm; and the owners say they have gradually made a further few changes to the property. They refitted the kitchen and shower room and opened up a previously bricked up window on the landing. They also created a totally private and beautiful garden which has wonderful views over the countryside to Botolph Claydon village.

Piglets Place has rooms for each season and the owners say there is nothing better in summer than sitting in the garden room admiring the stunning views. In winter the sitting room, with the log burner blazing away, becomes their warm and cosy winter refuge. However the house is also an excellent party venue, and the owner’s wedding reception for seventy people was a joyous event in the house and garden: whilst along with their neighbours, they hosted a Platinum Jubilee Party in the courtyard for ninety friends and family. It is a house that enjoys people.

The delightful garden is perhaps the jewel in the crown of this lovely property. A relatively low maintenance series of areas, it combines a pretty woodland walk with a vegetable garden, raised beds plus a selection of fruit trees, lawn, shrubbery, and seasonal colour. There is a pleasing choice of places to sit and savour the calm around you or you can settle on the top terrace for an al fresco breakfast or quiet evening glass of wine.

Nothing is too far away. There is a café at Hogshaw Farm and Wildlife Park next door, whilst Quainton is only two miles way with a community pub, community centre, post office and shop. Nearby North Marston has a gastro pub and community shop; and Winslow has a mix of shops and restaurants. Haddenham is a twenty minute drive away and has fast trains into London, whilst Aylesbury Vale Parkway station is only ten minutes away. It is a few minutes to the A41 which leads onto the M40.

The owners will be sad to leave Piglets Place with its peace and quiet and friendly community vibe but are looking forward to the next chapter of their lives in the Isle of Wight.
