SELLER INSIGHT

Located between the Malvern Hills, the Wye Valley and the Cotswolds this four-bedroom detached single-storey home with sizable gardens sits surrounded by beautiful Gloucestershire countryside. Positioned on the north edge of the village of Highnam on the outskirts of Gloucester, the location is rural yet not at all remote, as the owners explain. ‘Lassingville is set back from a lane and surrounded by fields which gives the feeling of living remotely however the village is just a short walk away. Here you will find a shop, primary school, church, play area and football and cricket pitches.’ They add, ‘it’s wonderful to be surrounded by nature and have woodland walks right on the doorstep.’ Built in the 1930s the original footprint of the property has been extended over time to create a T shaped building with parking to the front and a long garden to the rear. The outdoor space was a real draw to the owners, who have spent many enjoyable hours structuring, reshaping, and planting the garden. ‘It’s a garden of two halves with a formal and a wilder side. It’s a great mix which includes some very striking trees – red oaks, a weeping silver birch and a copper beech – a wildlife pond, chicken run and a vegetable patch. It also has well-established flower beds, a summerhouse, a shed for the mower and a lovely gazebo. It’s a real gardeners garden.’

‘The garden is surrounded by fields and enclosed by a mixed agricultural hedge of holly, sloe, bramble etc. With no immediate neighbours it’s extremely private – we love the peace and quiet and the fact that nobody disturbs us, and we have nobody to disturb!’’

‘The garden looks like a lot of work however we find that if we weed in the spring and cut back in the autumn it’s surprisingly easy to manage.’

‘We get some fantastic sunsets which are especially good seen from kitchen. The views towards the Malverns and Highnam Woods really are stunning.’

‘We made some updates when we moved in fifteen-years ago which include a new kitchen and en suite bathroom. We also put in underfloor heating in the bathrooms and kitchen – we hardly use this as the wood burner is very efficient.’

‘The house feels welcoming and comfortable and light and airy with plenty of room for guests to stay – it’s a good size which feels neither too big nor too small.’*
