SELLER INSIGHT

We bought the original house, a small 50’s bungalow, circa 1997 as my father needed a bungalow to live in due to mobility problems. After moving in, we received planning permission to extend at the back creating the resulting T-shaped building. Eventually the original part was re-done to match, with brickwork, stone fascia, new roofing and so on.”

“Everything about the house was bespoke around his needs; for example, there is very little carpet in the house as wheelchairs are harder to use on carpeted floors. He also loved wood floors, so maybe that is a little bit of an excuse as well. The rooms tend to be larger than normal for better manoeuvrability. Also the entrance gate is automatically radio controlled by remote fob, code, or SIM-mobile phone dial in.”

“He loved natural wildlife, so the pond at the front of the property was his favourite feature. He would spend hours out there watching the critters and having a smoke. When he could no longer move himself about as well, he built a raised fishpond at the back of the property which was easier for him to get to.”*
