Seller Insight

Occupying a sought-after location in the glorious Worcestershire countryside is The Outlook, a charming four-bedroom period home, which is thought to date back to c1885.

“Firstly, it was this lovely setting that drew us to the property when we came across it fifteen years ago,” says the owner. “It sits on a quiet lane on the edge of Dodford village, and we’re surrounded by open farmland and vast swathes of woodland so the views are just lovely. The immediate surroundings are very rural, however we’re definitely not isolated as we can hop in the car and be in the centre of Bromsgrove in next to no time.”

“In terms of the house itself, it was built towards the end of the 19th century and extended at some point in the 1950/60s so it’s really characterful but also very spacious. It was in really good shape when we bought it, just in need of a lick of paint, but over time we’ve made a few changes here and there that have enhanced it even further. The kitchen has been extended and we’ve added bi-folding doors that create a really nice sense of connection between inside and out, and we’ve also rejigged the layout in the hall area to make better use of the space.”

“Another feature that for us proved to be a huge selling point was the garden. It’s a great size, very manageable, and it’s surrounded by high hedges so we’ve always enjoyed a fantastic degree of privacy. It’s mainly laid to lawn, but there are lots of beautiful plants that create colour and interest all year round, and we’ve added patios outside both the kitchen and the lounge so there’s lots of space for relaxing and alfresco entertaining. The garden is definitely something I’ll miss when we move.”

“The kitchen is the hub of the house. It has a sitting area and the dining room flows off it so it’s where we’ll cook, eat, relax and entertain. We also love the fact that when the sun is shining we can push back the bi-folding doors and everyday life can spill out onto the patio.”

“I’ve had to travel quite a lot for work and so the convenience of this location has been brilliant. Bromsgrove is just fifteen minutes down the road and from there I can catch a train into places such as Birmingham or London, and we’re only around ten minutes from both the M5 and M42. We also have a good selection of shops and amenities close by so it’s a place where we’ve been able to enjoy the best of both worlds.”

“Adjacent to the house is a double garage, above which is a large space that we’ve always used as storage. However, I’ve always thought it has the potential to be turned into a home office.”

“The house has been a fantastic family home and there’s a lot that I’ll miss when we leave, but most of all it will be the views from the rear aspect,” says the owner. “All you can see is woodland and fields. It’s absolutely stunning.”*
