CNWC Y FELIN

ACCOMMODATION

Set in the heart of the Preseli Hills lies Cnwc Y Felin. Meaning Knock of the Mill, this traditional cottage has been carefully renovated over the years to retain its character and charm. On the ground floor is a newly fitted kitchen with island, handy utility room, 2 large bathrooms, bedroom, boot room, perfect after muddy walks, a cosy lounge with wood burner and a formal dining room that leads just off the kitchen. On the first floor, which can be accessed via 2 separate staircases, are two double bedrooms and a bright sitting/reading room that could be used as an office, study, studio or bedroom.

The grounds at Cnwc Y Felin are so varied and with many eye-catching views. With over 2,000 trees and 5 wildlife ponds it is a haven for wildlife and a peaceful, relaxing space to enjoy. There are a range of usable outbuildings, that have flexible uses, including garages, wood stores, potting shed and workshops. Dotted around the garden are different seating areas, perfectly situated to enjoy at many parts of the day.

SELLER INSIGHT

It was the stunningly peaceful setting of Cnwc Y Felin which first drew us here,” says the current owner. “Open, rural, and quiet, we fell in love with this beautiful place right away. My husband was particularly taken with the gardens and poured his heart and soul into cultivating the flora and fauna here, across 6 acres of hills. He planted two thousand trees twenty-three years ago, which has now grown into an amazing woodland with bluebells and snowdrops in Spring. If you come here at the end of March or beginning of April, when the bulbs are just starting to come up, the scent is just incredible. The wildlife is abundant, too, from foxes, badgers and invertebrates to a whole host of different birds.”

The house itself has been beautifully cared for by the current owner, too. “The whole house has been transformed both inside and out,” they say, “including a new roof, central heating, and the addition of a brand new dining room. Though we have a lovely reading room downstairs to welcome guests, my favourite room is the upstairs sitting room: ostensibly the television room, but more often I sit and look out of the window at the hills instead!”

The local area also has much to recommend it: “Rosebush itself has a friendly pub, while the larger village of Maenclochog is within a couple of miles for a good range of amenities and facilities including a general store, cafe, church, two garages, and a village hall. The sense of community in the village is superb, very supportive but with no obligation to get involved. During the pandemic this was particularly evident, with the village shop even delivering food when necessary. I feel very lucky to have such helpful, caring people around.”*
