Seller Insight

Church Farm House is the much loved home of the present owners, Joe and Jackie, who say that when they viewed the house, they immediately loved its warm and welcoming atmosphere, and its peaceful rural setting, with charming country views towards Silverstone and Stowe. Thirty three years later it still has the same positive vibes, and has been a fantastic, comfortable, and happy family home.

On a practical level, Church Farm House had the luxury of space and generous rooms they needed for their growing family and enjoyed an enviable location in the centre of the community minded village, with its primary school, and a wide choice of good secondary schools in the area.

One of the reasons Joe and Jackie chose Church Farm House was down to the fact Joe was commuting to the city by train one day and to a business park on the outskirts of Coventry the next, so the easy access to the M1 and M40, plus the regular train service from nearby Milton Keynes into Euston, and London Marylebone from Bicester and Banbury stations were greatly appreciated. Buckingham is four miles away and Milton Keynes and Bicester are a short drive. Church Farm House answers the needs of the whole family.

The light flooded kitchen is the sociable hub of the home. It is the perfect place for informal meals, and its Aga warmth is perfect when you return home after a cold winter walk. The dining room has ample space for larger social occasions, and Jackie recalls a supper when fourteen guests gathered around the table. Family down time is perfect in the living room, which provides a refuge from summer heat: and in winter, with the curtains closed and a fire blazing, there is no place better to be. Joe says the study is where you go for total peace and quiet and is the perfect hideaway.

The rural setting of the house is evident in the feature bedroom suite, where you can enjoy a morning cup of tea in bed and delight in the charming views across the pretty countryside. It is a positive start to each day and is also where you have a bird’s eye view of the firework displays at Silverstone.

Joe explains that over the years they transformed the garden into a very beautiful outdoor home. There is a delightful mix of apple, plum and walnut trees, a very productive vegetable patch outside the kitchen door and a comprehensive herb garden. It requires a loving hand to restore it to its former glory, as Jackie and Joe did thirty years ago. It has been the setting for various village events, when friends and family can settle on one of the seats scattered throughout the garden, and savour their peaceful surroundings, or appreciate the busy bird life. The only exception to this calm is the welcome thrill of watching the Red Arrows above your heads as they perform their routine for the Silverstone Grand Prix.

Akeley is a popular, friendly and socially active village where the village hall offers many clubs and activities. There is an annual village pig roast with entertainment, and the village pub has a fortnightly quiz. Joe and Jackie will miss the agreeable atmosphere of the house and the countryside views they have enjoyed for so many years. However, they take away very many happy memories and are sure the new owners will love the house and the way of life in the village as they have.*
