SELLER INSIGHT

The current owners of this beautiful rural property came to Wales from Essex for the good life over 40 years ago. Living in a neighbouring village, they were always intrigued with the neglected Woollen mill that they regularly passed by. So, when Sannan Mill came onto the market, they couldn’t resist. The property called out for love and attention and possibilities to be restored to a fantastic home.

The three-storey section of the mill had collapsed, so work started on renovation of the previously converted cottage section. Meanwhile, planning permission was sought for the part rebuild, and the remaining courtyard area was created, with flower planters and a seating area. The mill was built in the Victor ian era and much of the renovation was done in the owners’ favoured gothic style, using architectural salvage and local materials.

A favourite room is the barrel vaulted kitchen with attached Welsh oak sunroom, giving sweeping views across the garden to its statement yellow wall and the valley beyond. The kitchen was designed with slate floors and oak units, the must have Aga, and a walk-in pantry, to create a perfect family room. The owners were also able to create a stunning fully vaulted gothic style dining room, with a florid stone arch crowning the staircase which leads off in two directions, to galleried landings at each end overlooking the dining table from above. This is a particular favourite for entertaining family and friends, especially at Christmastime.

The owners spend most of their spare time enjoying outside life in the grounds and gardens, whether cultivating their own produce in the green house and veg patch; enjoying the peaceful sound of the water by the river and ponds; or watching the vast array of birdlife in the woodlands. They also love walking to the Pen y Bont Pub for a meal; around the Village Triangle and other local footpaths; or visiting the Aberglasney Botanical gardens and eating out in the man y quality local restaurants. All of the above give Sannan Mill a perfect location for they and their friends to enjoy.*
