Seller Insight

This impressive spacious family house enjoys a quiet setting within the special village of Bourton on the Water, recently voted as one of the prettiest in England. Set well back from the road but within six minutes from the centre of the village. A stylish, individually designed property, previously utilised as a very successful Bed and Breakfast establishment, which has been the family home for Angela and her late husband for the past thirty-two years. There is also a separate dwelling which comprises of a double garage and three bedrooms, all with en-suites .

“We already lived in the village but, when this parcel of land in this unique location became available, we recognised the opportunity to design and build our own property - a long held desire of my husband. Together we designed our perfect home and used a professional architect to draw up the plans. Having essential skills and knowledge my husband built the house, using other professionals, when necessary. Built of Cotswold stone, the house magically blends in with other traditional properties within the village; its beautiful stone mullion windows being an example. The addition of the bed and breakfast residence was added later and is totally independent from the main house.”

“Having given much thought to the internal layout of our home, it has proved to be the idyllic family home over the years, one that has coped perfectly with the comings and goings of our busy active life with children and now grandchildren being here. There is always space to pursue individual activities, places for individual study but always a home in which to welcome friends and family. The kitchen is very much the hub of family life and is where everyone congregates whilst meals are prepared. The sunny garden is another favoured area for family BBQs and a wonderful place to relax after busy days.”

“It is just a short walk into the pretty village which does offer an outstanding wealth of amenities, not least of which is our popular artisan baker, together with excellent pubs and restaurants. Moreton in Marsh is where the main line station is located for journeys into Paddington whilst elegant Cheltenham is a popular venue for its arts and culture. In addition, the fabulous Cotswolds are on the doorstep to explore and enjoy.”

“Sadly, the house is much too large for myself, and it is time for me to move. This has been such an exceptional, happy, home and I am sure the new owners will love the house as much as we have.”*
