Seller Insight

The Old Post Office is a historic property situated on the village green. It had potential for sensitive improvement, along with copious accommodation in which we raised our two children who had plenty of freedom to roam and reliable transport from the village to good schools in the local area,” say the owners.

“Recorded in the Doomsday Book in the 11th Century, Warmington is a small, picturesque village sitting below the Edgehill escarpment where Roman remains and a treasure hoard have been found. We have a medieval Church, public house, village green, and a sheep dip and duck pond here in the village. Local events include the annual Christmas party, quizzes, Bonfire night, Banbury Canal Festival, Wroxton Steam Fare, and open gardens and fetes.”

“The sun reaches all parts of the walled garden which has private seating locations, lawns, and a small pond attracting frogs and newts, and occasionally a heron! We even had a visit from a peacock one memorable family Christmas. Summer gatherings like our Silver Wedding worked well on the lawns, whilst Christmas and Easter are always fun times spent here with family. The dining room seats ten comfortably and we celebrated our parents Golden Wedding with twenty guests seated at the dining table. The orangery provides a convenient area for garden gatherings in inclement weather, as well as a robust winter play area for children.”

“The large lion foot bath always delivers lasting pleasure at the end of a busy day and the sitting rooms provide a cosy setting on chilly autumn and winter evenings. Spring and summer come quickly around bringing welcome sunshine to flood the front of the house in natural light. The orangery is the best place to enjoy a relaxing evening in the last of the sunlight and we must remember the necessary pleasures of cooking and working too. The kitchen facilities are simple and practical, whilst the home office above the garage/workshop is quiet, spacious, and private.”

“There has been a lot of work involved over our thirty-nine years and four generations here which has given us much pleasure and satisfaction. The improvements and barn conversion enabled us to easily accommodate day-to-day family life and multignerational living. We hope this gives a feel of how we have enjoyed our relatively short time at the Old Post Office given its long history and we hope that the new owners will enjoy the property and location as much as we have.” *
