Seller Insight Beautifully positioned within the charming village of Braybrooke is Appledene, a large and very stylish country home that boasts around an acre of stunning grounds. “The house was originally built some two hundred years ago and it began life as a rather modest cottage that formed part of a large apple farm, hence the name,” says the owner, “however the property has evolved greatly over time and it’s now this lovely big family home.” “The previous owners did a complete and very sensitive renovation of the property just a year or so before we purchased it in 2013, and I have to say that they did a fabulous job. They managed to retain so much character and yet at the same time they’ve opened up the space and created a house that’s wonderfully conducive to modern living. The layout is free flowing and each of the rooms has fantastic proportions so it’s very comfortable for day-to-day life and it’s an amazing house to entertain in. It’s also been beautifully redesigned to make the absolute most of these stunning surroundings, so each of the principle reception rooms overlooks and opens onto our beautiful grounds and therefore, when the sun is shining we can throw open the doors and essentially extend our living space right out into the garden. We also have a lovely balcony that leads out from the master suite, and for me there’s nothing nicer than to sit up there with a cup of coffee and just soak in the gorgeous view.” “The garden is beautiful and absolutely enormous, and we’ve loved having all that space both for ourselves and our dogs,” continues the owner. “We have open lawns, mature trees dotted here and there and there are countless lovely places to sit out and relax. It’s also an amazing space to entertain in, so much so that we actually invested in our own marquee. We put it up at the start of the summer and it provides yet another brilliant space for a party or celebration. We’ve had some wonderful times here and we’ll definitely take away some fabulous memories.” “It’s so hard to pick a favourite room because each comes into its own depending on the mood or occasion,” says the owner. “The top lounge is comfy and cosy and a lovely place to settle down and play cards or read a book, the middle lounge is where we have our grand piano so it’s a great room to entertain in, the kitchen is the hub of the home and I love our master suite. It’s a real haven and on a weekend I could happily spend the day in bed just gazing out at the beautiful view.” “I’ve loved the fact that our surroundings are so peaceful and very private and yet nothing is out of reach,” says the owner. “Market Harborough is a really nice little market town that caters for just about every need and we can be there in a couple of minutes, and the local transport links are very good so it’s possible to be in central London in just over an hour. We’ve also loved the fact that we can step out of the front door and literally walk for miles. I’d say it’s a location that offers the best of both worlds.”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property.
