Fall 2022

Letter from the Foundation President & CEO

Dear Friend of the Foundation,

On August 18, 1992, The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation became an official nonprofit organization. This year, we celebrated Founders Day with fundholders and friends by reminiscing about the success of the Foundation’s first 30 years. Also on Founders Day, we launched Brighter Tomorrows –A campaign to support youth in Hancock County.

Pictured on the cover of this edition of Your Impact Quarterly is a sunrise over the Findlay reservoir, which is the perfect representation of this campaign. We believe every child deserves a brighter tomorrow. And we know there are underserved children whose needs we can’t currently meet with the resources we have at the Foundation.

Equally important is our belief that every younger person needs a place they belong and can thrive. Whether it’s at a nonprofit, in athletics, the arts or a faith system, we know they need at least one of those places to feel supported. It’s our responsibility to ensure there is permanent, endowed funding for youth now and in the future to feel that sense of belonging. Together, we can provide Brighter Tomorrows for more youth in Hancock County now and forever.

As a donor, this is an opportunity for you to dream. What did your younger self need? What would’ve helped you thrive? The Foundation staff has worked with youth serving organizations around Hancock County to gather data on the needs of youth now and anticipated needs in the future. We’re happy to share our research and help connect you to the option that fits your personal charitable giving goals best.

In this edition of Your Impact Quarterly, you’ll learn how you can support this campaign and make tomorrow even brighter for the young people in Hancock County. Your gift to Brighter Tomorrows means a hungry child will be fed, an unhoused child will have a safe roof over their head, a student will receive a scholarship, and so much more. I hope you’ll join us in this effort.

Brighter Tomorrows

The mission of The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life for all in the community. This includes the youth of Hancock County. Every child in our community deserves a Brighter Tomorrow. Thanks to an anonymous donor, The Community Foundation created the Brighter Tomorrows Fund. The Brighter Tomorrows Fund is a field of interest fund that will award grants based on the needs of youth in our community.

The Foundation will raise more than $300,000 to ensure their futures are bright. Bright looks different for every child. A brighter tomorrow might be a full school lunch, needed medical care, more recreation options, exposure to the arts, or special field trips. The possibilities are endless.

Foundation staff researched census data, community health assessment data and surveyed local nonprofit organizations that serve youth and their families. These are the current and anticipated needs for youth in Hancock County in no particular order.
