We all want to retire someday, but when you retire and how comfortable your retirement years are will be dependent on how well you have planned and saved towards this life changing event.

What is a pension? Put simply, a pension is a financial product that lets you save up a pot of money towards your retirement. A pension as a product is technically speaking a ‘tax wrapper’ with specific rules around what you can save and when you can access your cash.

All the children at the home were given tranquillisers twice daily to keep them calm and compliant, unfortunately this leads to Beth’s addiction later on. Each day while at the home, Beth is sent to the basement to clean the blackboard dusters where she sees the janitor Mr Shailbel playing chess, she has never seen anything like it before and this is where Beth’s interest in chess starts, as time goes on Mr. Shailbel befriends Beth and can see that she has a real talent for chess, and teachers her the game.
I was looking forward to reading this book as I had watched the series on Netflix, which was a nationwide success. I really enjoyed reading it. It is set in 1950 to the sixties.
As Beth grows so does her addiction in the tranquillisers and alcohol believing these give her the “mind set” to win her chess games, after a very traumatic period, a friend and fellow chess player, helps Beth to see that it is her own talent that will help her to be champion not the pills and drink, if Beth wants to beat the Russian Borgov and become a great champion, she must realise this. Beth does eventually “kick” her habits and believing in herself, and eventually earns her place at the grand chess tournament against Borgov, what do you think happens ??

Animal fat such as suet is an excellent treat for birds in the winter as gives them an instant energy boost as well as allowing birds to build up a fat reserve to see them through the freezing nights. You can make your own fat feeders by filling old plastic containers such as yoghurt pots or drinks bottles with a mixture of suet, seeds and dried fruit or you can buy special fat balls or suet blocks. Rather than throw away your kitchen scraps put them out for birds. They will eat unsalted bacon, mild cheese, soaked dried fruit, cooked rice and nuts. In winter it is fine to put out whole nuts as there are no fledglings about who could choke on them.

But its oily nature also causes it to dry out, they will turn their beaks up at it, so best not to buy it in too large a quantity.
It is also important that you put out fresh supplies of water in the winter as birds' usual sources may be frozen over. You may see birds splashing about in the water but don't worry about them getting cold. As well as water for drinking they need it for cleaning
