CURATORIAL / EVENT MANAGEMENT PORTFOLIO NIKOLOZ NADIRASHVILI Update: Fall, 2013

Curatorial Statement

When all kinds of inspirations or creative intentions are transferred into artistic production they do not represent anymore solely artists, curators or art market segments. The strong or resonant art is constructed in accordance with complicated interdisciplinary relations. Respectively, I have been searching for stakeholders from different professional and demographic backgrounds. I do hope that when there are neither barriers, nor margins anymore, the best curatorial approach is constructed on the idea of sharing, researching, transferring, loving‌

Fest i Nova’13

| International Festival of Contemporary Art in Honour of Zdanevich Brothers |

Position: Co-curator Sep-2013

“The crisis consists precisely in the fact that the old is dying and the new cannot be born.“ Antonio Gramsci Art Villa Garikula launches annually the Contemporary Art International Festival in Honour of Zdanevich Brothers – Fest i Nova. Festival prolongs the movement of Georgian Modern artists, who aimed to relate Georgian art space with progressive art processes. The concept of Fest i Nova’13 was ‘Invisible Streams’. That time Art Villa Garikula was going to show artistic interpretations of international and Georgian artists exploring the transitional process, without thematic limitations. Some artists presented experimental artworks, holding autonomous artistic value rather than exposing the characteristics of narrative illustrations. | Reframing the 80s: Georgian Art at the end of the 80s and Beginning of the 90s |

Position: Curator’s Assistant Sep-2012 "Reframing the 80s: Georgian Art at the end of the 80s and Beginning of the 90s" was an exhibition of works of those artists who created the major trends of the period. It was a first in its attempt to collect and present to public an epoch that has not been studied or analyzed properly. The exhibition focused on the experimental direction of Georgian art of the 80s and 90s, manifestations of which are discernible in various media and genre such as painting, photography, video, installation, action and performance art demonstrate a relationship between art and society in the most effective way. The curatorial approach proposed a re-evaluation of artworks freed from the aura of their immediate history. At the same time, the selected artworks call forth multiple possibilities of reconstructing their historical context.
