Report of the Deacons Ministry Deacon Arthur P. Harrell, Jr. Purpose: To function as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ, serving in and through the church as partners with the Senior Pastor in enabling the church to fulfill its kingdom agenda. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Through another year of COVID-19, GOD has led our ministry in serving the congregation and HIS kingdom agenda. As we look forward to 2022 let us remember this year’s theme, “A PASTOR AND PEOPLE LOVING, TRANSFORMING, ENGAGING AND PERSEVERING WITH GOD'S GOOD NEWS FOR FORTY-FIVE YEARS” with renewed Scriptural references, John 13: 34-35; Romans 12:1-2; Acts 1: 6-8, Luke 14:34-35. Our benevolence continues to be the focus of our ministry in meeting the needs of the community. We assist with household needs such as short-term support for those who are faced with evictions or utility termination. Throughout 2021, we helped 36 families with rent and or utilities in the amount of $16,079.12 In spite of COVID 19, the Deacons did visit our sick and shut-in through 2021, we visited and served communion to 17 members. We also administered the care portal and provided assistance to several city-wide participants. The Deacons also established a procedure for Deacons candidates’ recruitment. Under our new normal, “being sanitary sensitive” the Deacons also established the Baptist protocol guidelines. We conducted the first baptism under the new guidelines. We held the first annual Deacons retreat. Our focus was seeking the Lord's direction in bringing in dedicated Christians who are willing to serve in accordance to Acts 6: 1-6. We developed a survey that would perhaps provide us with clarity in recruitment. In phase II of the church’s reorganization the consultant (Pastor Thurston) will be working with the Deacons and providing direction in this matter. I would like to take this time to thank Pastor Stewart and the Deacons ministry for your support over the last year. Under GOD’s leading we are now transitioning to a local community church here in Queen Creek. Blessing to ALL at FIBC. Humbly submitted,

Deacons Art Harrell, Chair Deacons Ministry
