2021 Annual Meeting Minutes

FIRST INSTITUTIONAL BAPTIST CHURCH PHOENIX, ARIZONA DR. WARREN H. STEWART, SR., SENIOR PASTOR JANUARY 30, 2021 VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP

The first-ever Virtual Annual Meeting of the membership of First Institutional Baptist Church was held by telephone and Zoom Video Communications on the above date.

The meeting was called to order at 9:04 A.M., by the moderator, Pastor Warren H. Stewart, Sr. He extended good morning greetings and a welcome to everyone.

It was moved by Sis. Carol Grant Sellers and seconded by the Rev. Delores Pickard to approve the agenda. There were no questions. Motion Carried.

The opening prayer was offered by Deacon John Carroll.

The Scripture Reading was referenced from the theme Scriptures of Matthew 16:15-19; Mark 1:1415, Ephesians 5:15-18, 20; I Chronicles 12:32 (New Revised Standard Version).

It was moved by Sis. Angela Wiggins and seconded by Bro. Lemuel Cannon to approve the minutes of the last business meeting held January 19, 2020. Motion Carried.

The silent roll call was by Sis. Nancy Hooper, Church Secretary/Clerk.

Old Business – The 2020 year-end video was viewed by all as prepared by Sis. Tracy Lewis, former director of the Communications, Marketing and Media Ministry.

Reports – The Annual Reports were sent electronically, and paper copies may be available upon request.

Highlights from the Pastoral Annual Report Goals and Recommendations - Pastor Stewart provided comments from the report of pages 7-11. The annual funds received was $1,858,758.35; the Legacy fund balance is $l41,277.04. The Legacy goal will be revised. The goals for Areas for More Progress were not met because of the COVID pandemic. All mortgage payments on the newly acquired marketplace were met.

Pastoral Recommendations:

A. That our 2021 Church Theme will be–FIBC, LET’S DO THE LORD’S WORK

STRATEGICALLY AMIDST OUR NEW NOW! Scriptural Foundation: Matthew 16:1519; Mark 1:14-15; Ephesians 5:15-18, 20; I Chronicles 12:32 (NRSV).

B. Our Purpose – To move forward as a pastor and people doing the Lord’s work strategically in these uncertain, challenging times that have presented us with a new now for being

Christians while being and doing the church in the world.

C. That each leader, ministry, worker, pastoral staff member, committee and member will set goals and objectives how each of them will implement our 2021 Church Theme.

D. That Dr. Reginald Bell, Jr., the Reverends Daniel Hazelton, Evan LeBlanc and Ismatu

LeBlanc be licensed to preach the Gospel (November 11, 2020) by FIBC

E. That Dr. Reginald Bell, Jr. and the Reverend Lisa M. Young be ordained to Christian

Ministry (December 13, 2020) by FIBC

F. That the following persons be elected and/or appointed to serve in the following positions, respectively;

Church Moderator – Pastor Warren H. Stewart, Sr. Church Clerk – Sis. Nancy D. Hooper Chairperson of Tithes and Offerings Tellers Committee – The Rev. Thelma Staten Church Historian – Sis. Annette Smith-Willis Elections Commission Chair – Sis. Deborah A. Long

It was moved by Sis. Annette Westmoreland and seconded by the Rev. James Morris, Sr., that the goals and recommendations offered by the Senior Pastor be approved and the Report of the Elections Commission be received. Motion Carried.

The Installation of 2021 Leaders and Officers will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 following the message at both worship services.

It was motioned by Bro. Ernest Urquhart and seconded by Bro. Richard Holmes that the meeting be adjourned at 9:36 A.M. Motion Carried.
