Fiance visa timeline Once an individual has decided and met a special someone that they wish to have immigrate to the United States they then realize that they will need to apply for and receive a visa. That then requires the individual to be concerned with the fiance visa timeline. While this timeline has varied greatly over the years the components that comprise the timeline have not. The first item and the most volatile of all the components is where the visa process begins, the USCIS.

There was a time when this part of the process was operating at a level that could be considered efficient; however those days are long gone. In recent years this portion of the fiance visa process has ranged in time from 3-6 months despite an over 100 percent increase in the fees they charge just to apply for a visa. The second component in helping to determine a Fiancee visa timeline is the time a case is under consideration from the NVC. The national visa service center is where all visa applications must go through for all applicants to undergo a federal background check. This is conducted by the FBI and Department of Justice among other agencies that are charged with determining when and if either the applicant or beneficiary has a criminal background. This part of the process is usually handled rather quickly under typical circumstances taking 2-4 weeks. In most cases the NVC is unable to confirm they have received a case as they get it process it and send it on before receipt can even be verified. The third and final step of the fiance visa timeline is the most important and crucial part of the process, setting up and conducting the interview. This phase of the process varies from country to country but currently has ranged from 4 to 8 weeks when handled by an experienced fiancee visa attorney.
