FGCU: #13 In Mid-Major Poll Murfreesboro, Tenn. | Murphy Center (11,520) TV: Stadium | WatchStadium.com Jason Knapp | Tim Scarborough | Rachel Lindsay Series: First Meeting @FGCU_MBB @MT_MBB #DunkCity | #ASUNMBB 2-1 3-1 HC: Joe Dooley (150-99) HC: Kermit Davis (447-256) This will be the second of six non-conference games for FGCU against opponents which played in the postseason and finished with a top-40 RPI last 2017-18 PRESEASON FAVORITES year (more info on Page 4). The Eagles are the defending ASUN regular-season and two-time defending tournament champions. FGCU is installed as the preseason ASUN favorites, predicted to return to the NCAA Tournament for a third-straight year and fourth time in the past six seasons. Last season, FGCU claimed its first outright ASUN regular-season title (12-2) and second overall. The Eagles set a program D-I regular-season record with 23 wins and tied the all-time victory mark of 26, finishing one triumph shy of matching the program’s all-time mark. FGCU set D-I program single-season records in points per game (79.4), rebound margin (+5.4) and field goal percentage (.499) – 5th-best in the nation. The Eagles made their third NCAA Tournament appearance in five years (six seasons of eligibility) and earned a program-best No. 14 seed. Despite losing its leading rebounder and shot blocker in Demetris Morant early in the 2nd half with an ankle injury, FGCU went on to fall to 3rd-seeded Florida State – the second-tallest team in the nation – by just six points, 86-80.

5 Things To Know In 280 Or Less
1) Each of FGCU’s first four opponents this year have received votes in either the CollegeInsider. com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll or the Associated Press Top 25 (Middle Tennessee the first two weeks). 2) Both Middle Tennessee and FGCU have made the NCAA Tournament three times in the previous five years. Both teams won a game in the tournament in 2016, while the Blue Raiders also picked up a victory last year. 3) This is the first time in the Division-I era (since 2007-08) that FGCU has started a season with three-straight games of 80 or more points. 4) Three players have increased their scoring in each of the first three games of the year: Christian Terrell (13, 16, 18), Ricky Doyle (8, 9, 11) and Antravious Simmons (5, 7, 8). 5) With 11 points at Bowling Green, Doyle became the sixth different FGCU player to reach double figures in a game already this year. The Eagles had 10 different players score against the Falcons.
