t’s a great saying isn’t it. Love isn’t cancelled. We have spent the last 9 months helping all of our 2020 couples to rearrange their special day, reminding each and every one of them that their day will be perfect, no matter what the date is. So, this Edition we are focusing on the intimate wedding setting because we know that all of you lovely couples out there are having to think about what you want out of your wedding day. We want to help give you a vision of the future, when times will be, well… precedented. It has been so strange this year to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives and the Wedding Industry is one of the hardest hit. A 10 billion pound industry has been brought to its feet, with little or no support from the government, because like us, our suppliers are small businesses. We have stood together at a socially acceptable virtual distance throughout 2020 and as a contribution to support the group of people who help us make our job easy, we have not charged anyone for advertising throughout the year. In January we launch a series of The Wedding Party events, featuring our gorgeous wedding family of suppliers. We really do have everything you need all under one roof to ensure that your nuptials are the truest reflection of your dreams. From the sublime Larkspur Lodge to the grandeur of Walton Hall, we have some gorgeous venues to delight every want, wish and need. So go to our Facebook page @ festivaleventsandplanning, to book your place on our exclusive event now. Due to the current circumstances, we are limited to 90 couples for each event and we are timing the tickets so that we can safely support you through our venues. Whilst we are not currently able to offer physical giftbags as we are following the government guidelines to keep our wedding family and suppliers safe, we are offering virtual giftbags for everyone, who will receive complementary offers for our suppliers and links to helpful planning tools to help you on your journey. We have some exciting sponsors and goodies for when we can give out physical giftbags again, for

fabulous content including Tanya Bardo full sized diffusers, planning notebooks and even some little goodies for the kids to play with. In our beauty section our Features Editor, Lara Oakes, talks about her other passion in life, natural skincare, presenting you with a lovely natural starting point for PhotographyFabulous skin on your wedding day. A record 14,700 of you downloaded our Autumn Edition and we are pleased to say that we will be continuing with a bigger and better service next year. You will notice that this time we have incorporated videos, because nothing makes you visualise a service or venue more than being able to watch it as it moves. We are really excited to continue to stay at the forefront of technology with the magazine and long may it continue. We have our Weditors here on standby to answer all your burning questions. So, are you a couple who has had their special day postponed? Do you have questions for our Weditors? Email your requests to rachel@ festivaleventsandplanning.com. All that is left to say is that, as promised, we have stuck to our 2020 tradition of no dreaded c-bombs in the magazine (referring to the pandemic – see we will not even say it now), but there is another c-bomb that we are totally prepared to use right now – Christmas. From all of the team here at Festival Weddings Magazine, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, festive period or break of work and we look forward to working with you all again next year to make your dream wedding a reality. Finally, this Edition is dedicated to Stuart. If you know, you know. Lots of love

Such a Natural Beauty Natural beauty is so this season for 2021 weddings, with Brides choosing gentle tones and that natural glow to help them to feel like the best version of themselves. Kate Williamson, Make-up Artist, and Abigail Nevitt Photography, worked together with a lovely venue, Delamere Manor, former home of Gary Barlow, to showcase the natural beauty of a less is more make up look. Take a look at what they produced.

As a make-up artist specialising in weddings, my aim is to help women to embrace their natural beauty by enhancing their features and therefore increasing their confidence. The inspiration behind this shoot was to capture images of the Bride in a relaxed and “romantic” setting. I selected Delamere Manor for this shoot as this 6-bedroomed venue, is perfect for those intimate weddings. With several different beautiful locations at the Manor for your nuptials, this place is filled with fresh air, for natural light photography to showcase the brides’ authentic beauty. Not

every bride has to buy from a boutique. The wedding dress was sourced from St Ann’s Charity shop as I wanted to show that opting for a charity shop dress does not reduce the luxurious feel for those on a budget and can be the perfect option if money is limited. For those of us in the industry, a stylised shoot is the perfect opportunity for us to showcase our work, which has been so necessary in 2020. So sit back, grab a glass of something sparkling and enjoy the natural look we chose for your inspo. Winter 2020

How to choose the perfect veil It is such a hard choice to choose a veil. In this article Sara Jones, our lovely Fashion Editor, talks us through her guidance on what to look for in a veil.

Between cathedral veils and bridal caps, there are so many different veil lengths, styles and details to choose from when it comes to the most iconic bridal accessory: the wedding veil. So, how are you supposed to know which one is right for you and your wedding day outfit? Follow these handy tips to choose the perfect veil to top off your look. Start with the Veil Length To find the ideal veil to match your wedding style, first consider length. Test out a variety of options once you have found your perfect gown. If you have always dreamed of a cathedral length veil then discuss your ideas with your stylist so they can accommodate this when helping you select the right gown. That means finding a style that complements your overall silhouette—you don’t want your veil to interrupt the flow of your look. Designers will often make veils tailored specifically for their dresses, so you can use these as a starting point. Shorter veils, like bandeaus, birdcages and blushers, tend to lend a bit more personality as well as an informal or retro edge to your look, while longer ones (ballet, chapel and cathedral veil styles) lean more in the way of tradition and formality. If you can’t find one you love, you can always go the custom route. Some of our suppliers allow us to order the laces, fabric and appliques from your dress so we can custom a veil to match perfectly. familiarize yourself with different wedding veil lengths and styles— again, it’s important to know the difference between a short blusher, for instance, and a Winter 2020

17

lengthy cathedral veil. Choose a Complementary Colour Aim to match the colour of the veil to your wedding gown as closely as you can. If you gown is an unusual colour then don’t rely on photos to try and colour match. And since photos may not accurately portray the correct colour it’s always best to select your veil from the boutique you selected your gown from. The one exception to this rule is antique

veils—you shouldn’t try dying a vintage veil (it’s not worth the risk of ruining such a delicate piece). As long as the colours are close enough don’t worry if they’re not a 100 percent match—the appeal of an heirloom style is in its uniqueness and sentimentality (if it was your mom’s or grandmother’s, for instance), so it won’t matter if it’s slightly off in colour. If your gown is champagne but has Ivory applique then you can select either of these to coordinate your veil to. 18

Winter 2020

Strike the Right Balance with Embellishments If your wedding dress is heavily embellished, keep your veil on the clean and simple side, with minimal (if any) extras. And vice versa: A simple, streamlined gown allows you to be a bit more adventurous in the veil department (Megan Markle’s wedding day look—complete with a stunning, elaborate cathedral veil—comes to mind). Play around with unexpected shapes, accents and textures, like a floral-embellished cathedral veil, a lace cap or a couture-inspired bubble veil with over-the-top volume. Try to create a balance as well when it comes to the type of embellishments—while they don’t have to match the ones on your dress exactly, they should complement them in colour, size and style. A glam sequined veil, for instance, might feel out of place next to a romantic gown embroidered with tiny pearls. Find the Perfect Fabric You can’t go wrong with tulle—it’s a classic choice for veils—but depending on the look you’re after, there are also a variety of other materials to consider, such as lace, silk and satin. In most cases, tulle is the most budgetfriendly option, and it offers a few benefits over pricier fabrics. Synthetic materials like tulle tend to keep their shape better and have a lighter, more ethereal look than silk and satin, which are more likely to appear heavy and hang straight. Don’t Forget About Your Hair Before you decide on a veil, it’s smart to have some idea how you’ll wear your hair on your wedding day—the style you choose may affect your final veil decision. For example, halo veils, bridal caps, mantilla veils and cathedral veils work best when hair is worn down or in low updos, while blushers and birdcages are much more versatile and can be worn with most hairstyles. Your hairstyle

Winter 2020

19

20

Winter 2020

might also affect where you place the veil and how you secure it. If you’re wearing your hair up, you can wear the veil above or below a bun or chignon. Pinning it above gives it more volume and achieves a more classic look, while placing it below feels more modern and keeps the focus on your stylish updo. Once you’ve purchased your veil, don’t forget to take it (along with any other hair accessories you plan to wear) to your hair trial appointments, so you and your stylist can find the perfect ‘do (and there won’t be any last-minute surprises). Accessorize Wisely Your hairstyle isn’t the only detail that can affect the type of veil you choose—other hair accessories make a difference too. A voluminous fountain veil, for example, isn’t going to pair well with an equally dramatic tiara. Instead, a classic style, like elbow, chapel, fingertip length or a cathedral veil, look best with a royal topper or beaded or crystal headband. Mantillas are traditionally worn with an ornate comb; halo veils often require a wreath, headband or cap to hold them in place; and blushers and birdcage styles go great with unique accents, like a feather clip or floral barrette. You can use your accessories to hold your veil in place or keep the two separate and attach the veil to your hairstyle with an indetectable clear comb. Highlight the Back of Your Dress Does the back of your wedding gown have a daring open-back, lace panel, intricate cut out or other dramatic detail? Don’t hide it under too many layers of tulle or a wall of heavy satin fabric. Opt for a super-sheer veil with just one or two layers to let those gorgeous details shine through. Make Removal Easy on Yourself (and Your Wedding Party)

If you plan to remove your veil after the ceremony (or at any point, really), but want to leave your headpiece on for the reception, attach your veil with fabric hook and loop closures for easy on and off. Keep in mind if you remove your veil before the reception, it won’t appear in pictures of the first dance or the cake cutting. If you choose a ballet, chapel or cathedral veil and want to keep it on post ceremony, try a multi layered version with a fingertip-length top layer. That way, you can detach the floor-length layers and keep that classic bridal look—but you’ll be able to mingle and dance with ease. Keep Your Photos in Mind Whether you want to flaunt your veil or keep it tucked away, be mindful that how you decide to wear your veil will affect how much or how little of it you’ll see in your wedding photos. If you attach it low near the nape of your neck, then little, if any, of the veil will show up in your photos. This is a good option if you want to keep the focus on your hairstyle or jewellery, but maybe not ideal if you consider your veil your pièce de résistance. Make It Your “Something Borrowed” Want to wear your mom’s veil but afraid it’s dated? Give it a face-lift. Take it to a trusted seamstress and see if they can rework the veil length, trim or embellishments so it feels a bit more like you. Or, if the veil has seen better days but you love its vintage style, look into having it restored to its former glory, or use pieces of it to create something new, yet vintage-inspired. When shopping for your gown always try a veil, we can guarantee if your mom wasn’t in tears already, she will be once you have a veil on! There’s something about a beautiful delicate piece of fabric that causes such emotional reactions for the entire bridal party it’s quite endearing to see. Winter 2020

Intimacy and Fragrance at Elsham Hall Venues are looking at ways to help you keep to the government guidelines, which means our talented Wedding family are out there trying to create new looks to help you stick to social distancing without compromising on your special day.

W

e spoke to Photographer, Lindsay Isham, The Jasmine Cottage Studio, who talked us through the recent shoot at Elsham Hall.

Lindsay talked of the heartbreak that her couples have gone through in 2020. She spoke about how we as a group of suppliers can save the day with the intimate weddings we create for our Clients. Lindsay said, “We wanted to showcase as many different wedding themes as we could under one roof in order to show our couples the possibilities of what they could have for their intimate wedding day”. Of the venue, she went on to say “As the Bride Beautiful team not only provide a stunning barn setting overlooking the grounds of Elsham Hall, but venue styling is also included as part of the package, this leaves couples the guarantee of having their dream wedding day become a reality whilst

protecting that all important budget”. Lindsay runs The Jasmine Cottage Studio, not only providing a fun and relaxed photography experience, but by creating bang on trend stationery to complement their wedding setting. Lindsay finds that in getting to know her Clients through the stationery process she understands more of their vision for their dream day and this impacts on the gorgeous shots she captures with her relaxed couples. She finished by saying “no matter how big your wedding day is, you can still have it all. We can still incorporate all of the beauty you have always dreamt of to celebrate your marriage to your one true love”. We agree, because even though this year has been tough, like I said in the Editors letter, love isn’t cancelled. Intimate Luxury

When you say that you want an intimate wedding, what picture do you have in your head? The truth is that some people see it as an opportunity to save some money to spend on the rest of their lives. Here at FWM, we believe that intimate weddings can still be luxurious. So, we went in search of some gorgeous shoots to give you that inspo to help create your day. We didn’t have to look far, as Aimee Orwell, of One Oake came up with the perfect shoot for us. Here is what she had to say.

for this shoot Intimate Luxury. We wanted to showcase the luxury look and T hefeelvibe you can get from a smaller venue and show that not always bigger is better. The Lady Ottoline pub is beautifully located on the corner of a picturesque tree lined street with gorgeous outside space and perfectly suited private dining rooms.

The dress we chose was from Morgan Davis Bridal. This beautiful sequined and blush tulle gown with delicate bow detail was perfect for the shoot and added the perfect touch of luxury. We then used subtle jewellery and hair accessories to complement this. Florals were a large part of the shoot with the foliage archway over the entrance to the pub being a main focal point and backdrop for photos. This was such the statement piece for the shoot and looked stunning against the blush of the dress. The décor on the inside was simplistic but warm and inviting. The delicate bud vases on the table added a soft romantic touch and contrasted the dark room. Candlelight was used throughout the décor to add the intimate and romantic feel of the wedding celebrations. 70

Wildflowers, Wonders and Cake There are a few things that are guaranteed to make us smile here at Festival HQ and cakes and flowers are right up there at the top of the list. Which is why when Guilia O’Lorey, Cake-maker extraordinaire showcased the work of her gorgeous range of supplier friends, we jumped at the chance to feature this amazing shoot. Enjoy ladies and gents.

W

e were inspired by the walled garden of this venue to highlight the beauty of “Made in Sussex”. Mindful of the current pandemic, we were eager to show how a romantic, smaller wedding can be breath-taking, and include all members of the family from children to family pets. independently, for a wedding dress to last a lifetime. The florals are all seasonal, to create a high impact but low maintenance effect that can easily be translated across all aspects of the wedding day, from the bouquet to a flower crown, even to a dog collar. The flowers are complemented by candlesticks and an eclectic selection of mini vases, to bring some whimsy and romance to a country wedding.

For many modern couples, it is of paramount importance that their wedding day includes all those personal touches. This is reflected in the bespoke embroidery on the wedding veil, the custom invitations, the colour choices for the bouquets and table accessories. The couture gown is a fantastic option when looking for something ethically handmade that is truly unique, especially when it is made of three pieces which can all be worn

We were able to shoot outside too: the lighting was so bright and warm that we couldn’t miss it. It created a perfect setting for the quintessential English picnic: scones, tea, and cake, set on the outdoor decor that we showcased throughout the gardens. All just fabulous for the couple who is planning that exclusive and intimate wedding day for their celebrations. Winter 2020

whole day of this shoot was focused around keeping it intimate and achievable on a T helower budget. We hoped to show couples how you can really put your own stamp on a venue to create a very personal and most importantly, a very fun day. Reduced numbers mean that you can make way for some more of the unique details to be included, such as the amazing horse box bar and macrame swing. Chapel Barn in Sussex is super rustic and family run venue, with the main barn structure and a beautiful outdoor space. We showcased both as ceremony options. It was a beautiful sunny September day for us to also host an outdoor reception area with trestle tables, decorated with collected DIY jars full of dried flowers. The bride and groom also had the cutest bell tent onsite to spend the

evening of the wedding. The boho feel was carried across to the bride’s styling with gorgeous hints of autumnal orange tones in the makeup and a beautifully relaxed up-do with scattered flowers, matching perfectly with her Stella York gown. Simply stunning.

Christmas Kisses and Festive Fun In the final of three shoots, we proudly welcome Imogen Eve, a fabulous photographer and her group of equally amazeballs trusted suppliers to the Festive-al family (see what we did there).

concept, theme and inspiration for the shoot was “Festive Glamour. A mash-up of T heold-school Hollywood elegance and modern luxe glamour that echoed the wedding

venue, Pelham House, perfectly. With current restrictions limiting weddings to 15 people, we wanted to showcase how special a smaller wedding can be with a small group of people and focus on creating an atmospheric & intimate ceremony and reception. To keep with the Christmas theme, we incorporated a Wine Ceremony to our Celebrantled wedding, but with a festive twist. To make the day even more special and to add to the magic of our winter wedding, we even managed to arrange for some snow. After all, we are all dreaming of a white Christmas, why not dream of a white Christmas Wedding?

Home is where the heart is

This old saying dates back to AD 23, first used attested in McCloskey’s ‘Davy Crockett and Other Plays’, but in 2020 there is no truer proverb. This group of gorgeous suppliers have taken this and developed the home wedding ceremony to beat all others. So, if you’re planning your ceremony and want some inspiration as to how your bubble can celebrate your hearts, look no further.

we were looking at the styling of this shoot, we wanted to create a romantic modern W hen boho intimate home garden ceremony with a touch of luxe complete with cool party vibes of a small gathering in your bubble over a grazing table. The perfect way to celebrate your love and marriage in light of the pandemic with a festival chill out zone complete with a photobooth area and picnic set-up in neutral tones. The concept of the shoot is to show how you can turn your outdoor space into a wedding haven for your intimate nuptials with lots of fun twists including a Married AF cake topper and bespoke wedding converses in Spanish as a nod to the Cuban culture.

A minimony wedding with the couple saying their I do’s with a colourful sand ceremony with lots of smiles and dancing into the twilight romance where the couple salsa in the twinkling lights as night falls. What could be more perfect than saying your ‘I do’s’ in the comfort and safety of your own space.

The Roaring Thirties In the era of prohibition and secret parties, Kim and the team of Thirties loving suppliers have created a bespoke and secretive event, fit for even the smallest of ceremonies at the fabulous Great Betley Farmhouse.

because a wedding has to be small at the moment, does not mean that it can’t be full of J ust gorgeous details. This theme is perfect for a small intimate wedding or be scaled up for a full-on Roaring Thirties celebration party.

All the details here show a flavour of an elegant and decadent time in a bucolic setting, with a naughty twist. Using two restored whisky barrels with an oak plank as a bar, our master mixer of cocktails was ready to flip the Cocktail Menu to Mocktail Menu at the first sign of the Police. The genuine 1930s British Armstrong Siddeley saloon limousine gleamed in front of the house. A celebrant ceremony was held by the front porch, flanked by ornamental olive trees.

With a stunning Modeca dress which shimmered subtly in the sunshine, vibrant bouquet and floral arrangements, quirky shoes, pretty headpiece, and elegant hair and make-up this was all about the details. Stationery in brushed gold with peacock feathers, eclectic styling using vintage suitcases, books and glassware, and a beautiful Art Deco style cake along with leather Chesterfields on the lawn by the pond, completed the relaxed but indulgent feel. Seventies Rock and Roll Throwback

Only good things came out of the Seventies, which is why Melinda Grant and the team kicked of their shoes and danced through the day of this shoot.

Retreat & Yoga was the venue and inspiration for this intimate seventies-inspired S amsara wedding styled shoot. Inspired by Bianca and Mick Jagger’s wedding, we brought some rock ’n’ roll to a Yoga Retreat nestled in West Peckham, Kent. Noticing a shift in sustainable living more brides are looking to make more eco conscious elements in the planning of their wedding. More people are looking to give back or explore ways to be sustainable and ecofriendly. Although we are currently with a 30 persons reception limit, a low-key approach can very much still be beautiful and fun. The reception space was held in a beautiful tent situated in the grounds of the retreat. The wedding table was adorned with freshly cut flowers almost all grown and picked locally in Kent. With seventies styling kept in mind flowers were chosen that were vibrant and colourful. Natalie the wedding designer and stylist of The Elysian Styling Company opted for green plates accompanied with crystal glasses for a touch of the vintage look. Embracing a more relaxed atmosphere large cushions and throws with bright print and woven textures added to the retro theme. Our real couple, Laura a singer songwriter and model; with her boyfriend John a photographer, both had fun-loving personalities, which was perfect for this 110

shoot.

For effortless white tailoring the bride wore an elegant bridal jumpsuit by Savannah Miller provided by Brides Do Good, an ethical bridal company who encourages brides to shop more ethically and sustainably where sales are invested in charitable projects to end child marriage. I commissioned Anna Pavlou founder of Mudu London to create a hat for the bride. This was a beautiful felt boater hat with a cute veil. Whilst the bridesmaid Freya wore a cute woven straw boater with a contrast black grosgrain ribbon. Our groom wore a modern dandy look with a burgundy double-breasted blazer together with a white buttoned shirt, check trousers and black converse trainers. The VW camper van brought a fun retro touch provided by Buttercup Bus. To add more fun to the proceedings I opted for a vintage style video, where I handed the task to videographer Luke Batchelor Productions. Even in the midst of Storm Francis the fun and love shone through which made great footage for the video.

The Horseback Bride Natasha Gilchrist and the team not only show us the love that their bride has for her beau-to-be, but also the love for her horse. We love it here at Festival HQ when the precious fur babies are included in a wedding. After all, they are more than just four legged friends.

What could show more love than a bride and groom getting married?

Well, maybe a bride and her horse...the friendship, love and bond between a girl and her horse is priceless, so we thought why not include them in your big day.

Warborne Farm in Lymington, Hampshire was the perfect setting for our horseback bride shoot. As an ‘On the Day’ wedding co-ordinator I am always on the lookout for DIY wedding venues, so when I stumbled across Warborne Farm, I was thrilled. This venue has all the feel of countryside, farm life, rustic vibes and on the whole ‘out right freedom’ to create your own barn wedding! If you have your own horse then you can take it with you but if you just love fresh air, rustic barns and are looking for stunning onsite accommodation, then this is the wedding venue for you! Around the grounds are some quirky and 116

There has been so much upset for couples and weddings being cancelled and postponed. After months maybe years of planning, some couples are determined to go ahead with their big day. Restrictions have meant that more people are celebrating at home. Mobile Bar Service The mobile bar is a perfect way to enjoy your celebrations at home. The bars are designed bespoke and colour coordinated to suit each

event. The bars come in various sizes so can fit in your garden or home. The dry hire option means that the host will provide the drinks and we do the rest. Both the cart and the bars are a fantastic solution to store all your drinks and a perfect place for a photo opportunity. Bartender and Cocktail Service We all know how stressful a party at home can be, the host serving drinks and looking after guests. Hiring our bartenders enables you to relax and enjoy your party. I sourced marquees, DJ, singers, saxophonist, furniture, caterers and much more, in effect I bought the venue to them. Another popular event has been wedding date celebrations. Couples decided to put a positive spin on the day they were supposed to be getting married by gathering their family and friends for a celebration at home. A Wild Elopement in the Peaks A nature Inspired, Eco Friendly, Autumnal Elopement

wedding videographers AND an engaged couple, the strain of COVID has been A sfeltbothacross the board. Yet, from the restrictions, came this immense sense of freedom, to do exactly as we wanted and not what was ‘expected’. When you can’t plan a traditional big wedding with family and friends, you are faced with 2 options. 1. Wait it out, or 2. Deep dive into the world of elopements, symbolic ceremonies, and adventurous weddings! This Styled Shoot aimed to embody all of this and inspire couples to think outside the box and create an intimate, personal wedding day in the breathtaking beauty of Wild Britain.

The Concept Every element of this shoot, from the delicate stationary, to the huge wild florals, to the personal vows, was inspired by the two natural elements Earth and Wind. We chose to film this elopement in a stunning location

called ‘The Roaches’ in the Peak District. We were blessed with gorgeous weather, and wind speed that made our bride’s veil soar up into the sky! The roaches spoiled us with views across the peaks, magnificent soaring rock faces, vast open countryside, and fields Winter 2020

of heather. We chose a deep autumnal colour palette to compliment the earthy colours of the peak district: forest green, burgundy, navy blue and splashes of gold. The Suppliers Our priority was to collaborate with suppliers with similar values and who could envision our concept of a nature inspired, eco friendly, adventure driven elopement. Connecting with Wedding Planner, Keenda, from Events by Keenda, was a match made in heaven! She took our concept and pulled together a team of dedicated, premium, luxe suppliers from across the UK. Each supplier played a vital role in creating our vision, and all brought something new and exciting to the table. Such as Emma Stewart Cake Design’s new Elopement Boxes, filled with sweet treats, cake slices and small bottles of champagne to pop! However, unlike most styled shoots, we required more than just their products and services. We asked our suppliers to HIKE! We hiked up the roaches with catering, florals, decor, attire, equipment… the lot! It was hard work, but the breathtaking views made it all worth it! The Ceremony We asked Sarah from Celebrant SJ to conduct our cliff top ceremony. She crafted a beautiful adventure inspired service, completed with a hand-fasting ceremony, using silk ribbons from Silk & Purl. The intimate nature of this ceremony gave the couple the chance to be completely vulnerable with each other. It also gave their 2 guests the chance to say a few words, while wrapping the ribbons around their hands.

The Reception & Styling

We couldn’t hike furniture up the hillside, so instead we used nature, arranging the couple’s reception on a large rock under

a canopy of trees. Zaz Events arranged a relaxed, boho luxe picnic for four, complete

with the autumnal colour palette, gold

accents and eco friendly materials. They used their burning sand runner, wooden plates on

painted raffia placemats, forest green napkins, and gold cutlery wrapped in burgundy silk

ribbons from Silk and Purl. The macrame tea

lights and brass vases surrounded the huge vegetarian feast created by PTJ Catering. Eco Friendly Suppliers

This wild elopement wouldn’t have been complete without the incredible talents of our eco friendly suppliers, who created

beautiful products from ethically sourced and

sustainable materials. Polka Dot Creations designed a stationary suite inspired by nature, using handmade seed and petal

paper to give the stationery that earthy, free and natural look. These materials are

completely biodegradable and can in fact be planted in the ground to grow wild flowers!

Elizabeth Terzza designed a stunning set

of nature inspired accessories all made from recycled metals. The bespoke engagement

ring was handcrafted with 100% recycled 18ct white gold. Sundew Florist’s florals were all ethically sourced in Britain, including the natural shed peacock feathers in the Bride’s bouquet.

you’ve chosen a romantic, alternative, rustic or bohemian theme for your wedding, W hether you’ll soon be starting to think about colour. Table décor, floral arrangements and

bridesmaids’ gowns are ideal ways to inject colour into your theme. However, accessories can delicately bring touches of colour to your day with an air of luxury. We take a look at four key colour trends, and how you can bring them to life through your accessories.

Jewel Fusion A luxurious choice for any season, this intensely rich colour palette works particularly well during the autumn and winter months. Complex blends of opulent hues give a beautiful complexity to the look, which contrasts so elegantly with an ivory gown. Rich purple anchors the mix of hues, deepening the impact of the jewel tones of ruby red, sapphire blue and emerald green, with luxurious accents of gold. The Sheena Earrings are the perfect cascade of jewels

to feature in this palette, whether you chose them in Ruby Red or Emerald Green. Meanwhile, bejewel your bridesmaids with the Petite Drop Earrings: Amethyst Hydro, Green Onyx, Sapphire Hydro or Citrine Hydro give the opulent accents which are central to this look. Match them up or make a gemstone rainbow, with each bridesmaid wearing a different hue. Sheena Earrings: Ruby Red, Emerald Green, £59. Petite Drop Earrings: Various colours, £49.

Sapphire, White and Gold This palette exudes timeless sophistication. The tranquillity of deep blue is a majestic accent to the richness of white and gold. The Montgomery Crystal Teardrop Earrings and Pendant Set in Gold epitomise this elegance; their shape mirroring the Petite Drop Earrings beautifully, providing an elegant suite of pieces for you and your bridesmaids in this refined colour palette. Alternatively,

make a statement with the Gold and Milky Sheena Earrings, whilst adorning your bridesmaids with the meaningful elegance of the Evil Eye Pendant Necklace and Bracelet. White and Green Always an elegant choice, there are so many ways to bring this palette to life. The vitality of fresh bright green paired with white breathes life into a bridal theme. The Ettienne Earrings and Pendant Necklace are a striking choice for bride or bridesmaids; their handcarved curves working so beautifully with this clean colour palette. Alternatively, sage and ivory give a softer autumnal feel, whilst emerald green and ivory are perfect for the

richness of deep winter. This particular combination evokes a vintage air, making the Greta Baroque Pearl Earrings a timeless bridal choice.

Ice Blue, White and Green Fresh and frosty, this colour palette lends itself exquisitely to winter weddings. Think bright frosty mornings adorned with crystalised cobwebs, and you have all the makings of this fairy-tale colour story. Blending a range of blue tones adds depth to the entire look, evoking the complexity of colours within cool oceans or winter skies. Add warmth

with luxurious gold accents or keep it fresh with silver and crystals. The Clover Earrings and Double Layered Pendant Necklace are a delicate choice to compliment this palette, available in either gold or silver. Clover Huggie Earrings: Gold or Silver, ÂŁ49. ACCESSORIES

Every photo starts with light Jen Concellas and the team showcase their gorgeous services in a shoot including our gorgeous Steph Hoyle from Loved and Luxe.

T

he word photography is originally a Greek word meaning ‘light drawing’, and when I discovered Ingestre Orangery, that was the first thing I saw: a building with gorgeous classical architecture, and stunning light!

While visiting them to arrange the shoot, I found out that this new venue had been formally derelict and overrun with trees and nature. The transformation is truly incredible! The venue is now an open and clean space; a blank canvas to design a wedding within. Surrounded by luscious grounds, it really is perfectly private and intimate – I couldn’t wait to photograph there! As a nod to the building’s history, the theme of “Enchanted Winter Forest” emerged. I loved the idea of bringing nature back into the building and combining this with cool wintery icy tones that would suit the duration of the season. Blues and greys came out as key colours during the planning; a colour palette that was executed perfectly by each one of the amazingly talented team who came together to supply all the elements for the shoot. Anna Perkins, Hedge & Berries: When you say Winter Wedding to someone they often think of Christmas, and cheesy Hallmark films (although they are the best), but for me Winter is much more than that. As a florist, Winter is more the ‘after Christmas’ effect; the ‘Narnia’. There is something

enchanting and magical about waking up on a cold January morning and seeing everything sparking whites and blues, as if glitter had just been cascaded, making a winter wedding just perfect! Winter 2020

Winter 2020

I love everything about nature and being outdoors: my style is wild, natural and rustic; and as an Eco Florist, being part of a shoot that encompasses these elements is something I could not pass up. Often many brides I speak to opt for a Spring, Summer or Autumn wedding, but a winter wedding can offer so much. Everyone involved with this shoot from clothing, cakes, jewellery, make up, flowers really captured this in their designs and styles and Jen from JMD Photography encapsulated the essence of an enchanted winter forest perfectly. Seeing it all come together matched each other’s skills and talents perfectly making this ‘Winter Shoot’ just magical. Sam Francis, at Ryley and Flynn: Jen asked me to design a dress with an Enchanted Winter Forest theme in mind: whimsical and romantic floaty skirts in a shade of blue. Immediately, I knew it needed to have an ethereal feel, and a tulle skirt would work perfectly. So, I set to work finding the perfect shade of blue dye to fit in with the other suppliers, hand-painting the tulle to give an enchanting ombre effect and finishing the dress with a delicate lace top. Louise A’Ness, Makeup Artist: For this icy theme I used blues and greys alongside silver on the eyes. These shades tied in perfectly with the hair accessories. I contoured to bring out the cheekbones and then highlighted using a white with a hint of sparkle to create a frosty look. For the hair, I wanted to soften up the look slightly by adding curls, so went for a delicate half-up braid. Hair extensions were added to create some height and volume to the style. Naomi Francis, Vintage Venue Styling: I absolutely fell in love with the palette of this styled shoot straight away. At Vintage Venue Winter 2020

Styling, I work with a lot of vintage and rustic decor so I couldn’t wait to be a part of a shoot which shied away from using less earthly tones and presented a beautifully delicate and fresh colour palette. Working alongside such amazing wedding suppliers was a great experience and together we brought a stunning winter blue wonderland wedding table decor. Each hue blended beautifully throughout the details, bring delicate depth. For the ceremony, I used the burgundy sashes to balance with the winter forest moongate, providing the perfect accent. Lucy Williams, Paper Swan Stationery: I was going for the frosted look with delicate vellum and dusky blue colour palette to match the winter mood board, creating a collection of stationery which brought the enchantments of winter to each stage of the wedding story. Nikki Johnson, Lolli & Bean Cakes: I fell in love with the mood board for this shoot immediately, so was ecstatic to be a part of it and to begin designing to this beautiful brief! The brief had such a magical feel to it, and I really wanted to portray this on the cake. Taking inspiration from the exquisite Ryley & Flynn gown, I utilised blended colours and tones to create an ethereal feel and mirrored the delicately floating elements of the gown too. Pauline Tiley, Odesia May Jewellery: I was immediately drawn to this shoot by the beautifully subtle blue and dreamy mood board. It seemed so fresh and elegant but with a restrained use of colour: this is a signature aspect of m design ethos when creating handmade hair accessories. My specialisation is colourful bridal headdresses, so this brief was a perfect fit! Claire Buckley, Tulle & Flo: 156

Winter 2020

At Tulle&flo design, I hand-cut and handembellish veils, wings, capes and more for the modern contemporary Bride. So, creating a veil for this shoot was the perfect brief! Complimenting the stunning ombre bridal gown was paramount here, and I wanted to create something which would harmonise with the gown whilst still making a statement. I settled on the icy sky-blue soft tulle, which worked perfectly, and chose a Chapel length to add a little drama. Embellishing the veil’s edge with blue ‘AB’ crystals really finished the look: taking their name from ‘aurora borealis’, the stones are expertly coated to reflect delicate colours of gold, pink and blue. Stephanie Hoyle, Loved & Luxe: Enchanting and whimsical, the brief for this shoot called for delicate details, making the Clover Earrings and Double Layered Necklace the ideal choice. The natural theme of the shoot also lent itself to the form and significance behind the clover designs. The soft hues of the colour palette were perfectly complemented by the sparkling facets of the dainty silver chains and the array of facets in the cubic zirconia stones. Crafted using the highest quality cubic zirconia stones, handcut to deliver the most alluring sparkle, these pieces were the natural choice! Poem by Sally RhymesToRemember

Feathers of diamond and stars of lace, Fall to the ground in an icy race. All different. All fragile. All alone in flight. Yet together they paint our world with white. Written by Jen Concellas, edited by Stephanie Hoyle.
