Welcome The world’s best guitarists will bring their virtuosity and versatility to the venues of the Adelaide Festival Centre, over four memorable days in November. Under the expert direction of internationally-renowned guitarist Slava Grigoryan, the 2010 Adelaide International Guitar Festival offers music lovers and devotees of the six-string a unique opportunity to soak up the diverse sounds of one of the world’s most acclaimed and adored instruments. Whether you are a player or a fan, this is an unmissable event and I look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome to the Adelaide International Guitar Festival November 2010

This year’s Adelaide International Guitar Festival draws on the experience of one of Australia’s most acclaimed guitarists, Slava Grigoryan, to deliver an event that celebrates an instrument with rich traditions and one that is so popular it traverses musical genres and cultures. Concentrated over four fantastic days the Guitar Festival takes music lovers on a unique expedition through the diverse sounds and spirit of the guitar. You’re invited to stay for a night or immerse yourself in the guitar for the full four days!

It is with great pride I welcome you to the 2010 Adelaide International Guitar Festival – my first as Artistic Director! Curating this Festival has been an incredible journey for me personally. Communicating with many artists, some that I’ve admired from a distance for many years, others that I’ve had the pleasure of making music with in the past, has been a dream come true. The performances that have been programmed will provide you with a completely unique opportunity to experience some of the world’s best guitarists in many different settings. A true celebration of this magnificent and most versatile of instruments.
