Welcome

The Hon Peter Malinauskas MP Premier of South Australia

The Hon Andrea Michaels MP Minister for Arts

The Hon Blair Boyer MP Minister for Education

The Hon Karlene Maywald Chair, Adelaide Festival Centre Trust Douglas Gautier AM CEO & Artistic Director, Adelaide Festival Centre

For fifty incredible years, DreamBIG Children’s Festival has fuelled the creativity and curiosity of over two and a half million of our state’s young people.

In doing so, it has become a touchstone for generations of South Australian children – and become the longestrunning children’s festival on the planet.

Happy half-century, DreamBIG, and thank you for introducing us to a bigger and more extraordinary world.

DreamBIG Children’s Festival provides a place for young people to connect to their community and their sense of self through world-class performances and immersive workshops.

We encourage families to explore the rich opportunities to engage with the wonderful world of arts, culture and creativity in this year’s program.

We are delighted to be welcoming young people and their families to Adelaide Festival Centre to celebrate 50 years of DreamBIG Children’s Festival. What an incredible contribution this event has made to the South Australian arts scene over generations!

In recognition of this grand anniversary, we are bringing back the beloved Opening Parade and presenting a special exhibition in Festival Theatre Galleries – 50 Years of Dreaming Big.

Adelaide Festival Centre is located on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We pay respect to ancestors and Elders past, present and emerging as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide Plains. We honour their cultural and spiritual relationship with their Country and we do so in the spirit of reconciliation.
