beautiful, but of course our hearts were set on having the ceremony at ‘I Dew’ Point. Around noon, the clouds broke up, and the sun peaked out, and we had the most perfect weather. It wasn’t too hot, but just warm enough, and the light was perfect for photos. So that worked out very well. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE THOSE PLANNING THEIR OWN WEDDING DAY? Don’t get caught up on trying to make everything perfect. It’s your special day, and it’s going to be great no matter what. Also, try to make the day a reflection of what you both love rather than attempting to please everyone else (which is always impossible anyway!)

WHAT WERE SOME UNIQUE ELEMENTS TO YOUR WEDDING THAT REALLY STAND OUT - THINGS YOU TRIED TO DO DIFFERENTLY? Having the wedding over a weekend at a somewhat remote location as Island Lake Lodge allowed everyone to bond in a very intimate atmosphere. This was both a function of the overall size but also the fact that almost everyone was staying at the lodge, so right from the arrival on Friday evening, everyone was mingling and getting to know each other.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO GET MARRIED IN FERNIE? That was a no brainer for us. We love Fernie! We spend almost every summer weekend here, as we love the hiking, fly fishing, nearby beaches, and everything about it. Even before we got engaged, we knew that we would be getting married in Fernie. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? Our good friend and awesome photographer, Mark Shannon (Mark11 Photography) set up an amazing reveal by the creek in Mount Fernie Provincial Park with just the two of us before the ceremony. It was an incredible moment seeing each other for the first time on the day of our wedding in a very intimate and beautiful setting.

We continued to take a few more shots by the creek. My husband, Maciek, who is an avid fly fisher, brought his fly rod for one of the shots, where he was going to pretend to fish. He

wasn’t pretending as he had a fly on the end of his line, and he managed to land a little Cutthroat during the shoot. The other highlight for us was the weather. The weather wasn’t great the day before, and the forecast was also not promising. We were ok with the fact that we might have to have the ceremony inside, which would have also been

We also had amazing help from very talented friends to craft some unique touches for the big day that reflected us – from a “survival pack” in the guests’ rooms when they arrived that contained snacks and goodies, to customized signs, a huge pink piñata heart for advice/good wishes, a candy bar, flip flops for tired dancing feet, makeup for touch ups in the bathroom, and about 100 lbs of sparkle that was added to decorations for the big day!
