Have Fun! Barn quilts are vibrant display of outdoor art. They are large flat pieces of wood painted to look like a quilt block, comprised of simple geometric shapes, and painted in bright colors. They hang on barns, houses, fences, or integrated into a garden. They are beautiful displays of Americana Folks Art that celebrates women’s contribution to agriculture. You will learn the history, the simple techniques of painting them, and create your own barn quilt square. You will leave with patterns and ideas for making additional barn quilts.

LAKE REGION TAKES ROOT COMMUNITY GARDEN
Come volunteer and learn the many different methods of gardening (raised beds, hydroponics, orchard and traditional field). Volunteers help plant, water, harvest and build special projects. There is something for everyone and all ages and abilities are welcomed. Produce grown supports the food shelves in Otter Tail County. A great project for individuals, service clubs, youth, school and church groups. Projects to run April to October 15; field planting starts in mid-May.

INTRODUCTORY FLY FISHING
Want to learn the sport of fly fishing or looking to refine your skills? Participants, ages 16 and older, will learn about selection and proper use of equipment and accessories, along with casting principles, reading water, fly selection, entomology, knot tying and rigging, equipment, and where to fish locally and across the U.S. After this class, students will be all set to hit the water. SCUBA DIVING
There are two parts to becoming a certified scuba diver. Part 1: Classroom and pool time to learn the basic principles of scuba diving. Part 2: Open water exam in an area lake at a date TBD, which includes two shore dives, two boat dives, certification, paperwork, and logbook. This course is open to persons 12 and older. 17 and under must have a parent/ guardian present the first night. All equipment and classroom materials are provided. Bring a swimsuit and towel. Call Community Ed with your height, weight, and shoe size. Fees: $250 to Community Ed for Part 1; and (upon completion of Part 1) $250 to Tri-State Diving for Part 2. Class dates: Apr. 2, 9, 16, 23.

This course provides the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program by developing participant’s understanding of how to use the course materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate participant’s progress. Whether you want to teach kids to swim or help children or adults refine their strokes, you can do it as a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
