TWINED RUG
Many believe in not wasting anything. The twined rug has been made for centuries by many cultures. This rectangular rug, made of recycled jeans and fabric, is made on a flat wood loom. DRIVING SKILLS FOR SENIORS

For those 55 years or older who are new or renewing. Save money on your car insurance and become a better driver. Minnesota law requires that insurance companies offer a 10% reduction for three years. Taught by a certified instructor; classroom instruction; no driving or test required. As of July 1, 2024, Minnesota law states that people will not need to take an 8-hr class, they only need to take a 4-hr class.

SWEDISH DEATH CLEANING
At a certain point in your life, you stop accumulating stuff and deal with the stuff you have already accumulated so your loved ones won’t have to do it after you are gone. It’s about deciding what is most important to you and what you want the rest of your life to look like.

BASIC EDUCATION FOR SAFE TRAVEL (B.E.S.T)

C.A.R.S. is now B.E.S.T. This is a blended learning class with e-learning prior and must show proof of completion at the in-person portion of training. No exceptions. You will be contacted by the instructor as to the exact time of the in-person portion. Registration will close 5 days prior to training. It will save time if you are familiar with the car seat/s that you plan on installing. Online portion can only be completed within 30 days of in-person training

The goal of this class is to introduce participants to what it means to be a foster or adoptive parent. You will learn about the licensing process, what training you will need, what happens when a child is placed in your home, and the opportunity to ask questions. FIRST AID/CPR/AED
Childcare providers must take Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED class. This course covers adult only CPR and use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and relief of choking. First aid basics, medical, injury and environmental emergencies are covered. Heartsaver courses are intended for non-healthcare professionals. Two-year American Heart Association certification. Must be 16 years of age unless accompanied by a parent. Books will be available at class for fee of $7.50.

HEARTSAVER PEDIATRIC
FIRST AID/CPR/AED
The Department of Human Services now requires all licensed childcare staff to be certified in Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. This course meets the new DHS requirements for all childcare providers. The course covers illnesses and injuries, bleeding and bandaging, allergic reactions, how to use an epinephrine pen, asthma, bites and stings, burns, choking, CPR/ AED for children, and CPR for infants. (Grades K-6th) The SACC program runs Monday – Friday after school each day from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. FRIDAY NIGHT SKIING AT ANDES
Students grades 4-6 are invited to ski or snowboard at Andes on Friday nights. There is a onetime seasonal fee of $91.27 for skiing or $112.74 for snowboarding and skiing. These prices expire on 11/2/25, at which time they will increase. This special offer includes lift tickets, ski or snowboard rental, and one free lesson. Bus departs from KSS at 3:30 pm and returns at 9:00 pm. Transportation Fee: $20 per trip. 7th-12th grade are also invited to ride the bus, but they must purchase a ski pass at Andes. Trips are chaperoned by an adult chaperone and parent volunteers.

SCHOOL’S OUT CAMP
Need something fun for your child to do on school vacation days? School’s Out Camp runs on non-scheduled school days at the YMCA from 7:15 am – 5:30 pm. The 4-H program uses a learn-bydoing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to become competent, caring and contributing citizens of the world. 4-H is for all youth, wherever they live--on farms, in suburbs, in cities. 4-H serves youth from all backgrounds and interests. 4 O’CLOCK FUN
Join us for this class in the late afternoon. Spend time learning and exploring together in the classroom. We will have circle time as well as movement/gym time. During the second part of class, parents will meet for some adult time and discuss topics around parenting and child development. This is a separating class.
ECFE class registration opens online on Friday, September 5, at 7:00 a.m. Fall ECFE classes begin on Monday, September 15 and run until winter break. We also offer ongoing registration for Otter Preschool throughout the school year.

The Fergus Falls 544 Education Foundation was founded in 2000 to raise, invest and grant money through a charitable foundation to support educational programs. The Foundation’s goal is to enhance the quality of public education in Independent School District #544.
For the 2024-2025 school year, the Foundation awarded almost $35,000 in grants to projects and programs in the Fergus Falls School District.
The Foundation is supported through generous donations from alumni, friends, district staff, businesses, memorials and service clubs.

REGISTRATION & GENERAL INFORMATION
WHO MAY REGISTER: Persons 16 years of age and over who are not presently attending high school. Students in grades 7-12 will be permitted to enroll in all Community Ed courses, except some Do-It-Yourself classes, on a space available basis.
REGISTRATION: Register in person at Community Ed, by mail using the registration form, calling our office, or online at ce.fergusotters.org. Registration is on a first-come, firstserved basis.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: By Check: When you provide a check as payment, the transaction may be processed as an electronic fund transfer. Funds may be debited from the check writer’s bank account on the same day the payment is received. Online: Register and pay at ce.fergusotters.org.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: The District reserves the right to withdraw any course in which registration is insufficient, fees paid will be refunded. No fees will be refunded after classes have started. In the event you have to cancel, we can give a full credit voucher or refund only if you notify Community Ed at least 48 hours prior to start of class.

Community Ed classes will also be canceled.
