Fenestration Digital Magazine Edition 58 May 2024

Page 1

Hello and welcome to the May edition of Fenestration Digital!

The people in our sector is a major focus in this month’s magazine, which is apt as the voting phase of the 2024 National Fenestration Awards went live at the end of April, and there is a swathe of people-focused categories in this year’s campaign.

We think there are a great deal of fantastic people working in all types of positions within the sector, and with so many people-focused categories the NFAs aims to recognise the amazing work our people do day in and day out.

Whilst the industry continues to operate through turbulent times, and the instability may last a while longer yet, the fine work our fenestration experts do remains a bright spot in our sector and that is certainly something to be celebrated.

This is a packed edition and we hope you enjoy reading!

THYSSENKRUPP MATERIALS

UK FABRICATION’S GROWTH: “SOUND INVESTMENTS PROVED PIVOTAL.”

When we talked to Adrian Palmer, Operations Director at thyssenkrupp Materials UK, it was clear that the business’s impressive growth was no happy accident. The decisions the company has taken and executed are part of an ongoing, clear plan. But during our conversation, Adrian Palmer repeatedly mentioned the importance of a sound investment strategy.

Intrigued we asked Adrian Palmer for more detail on that aspect. He said: “The old saying tells you that a bad workman always blames the tools. It doesn’t tell you that having the right tools for the task makes a world of difference.” And, of course, in a larger manufacturing setting, with batch

production, the right tools are essential.

The leading material supplier and supply chain solutions provider - thyssenkrupp Materials UK has a long and distinguished history in engineering, but the UK fabrication arm of the business only commenced operating in 2020. Since then, its growth has been remarkable. Output keeps hitting new highs and the customer base, across diverse sectors, is expanding.

Early in thyssenkrupp Materials UK fabrication journey, they purchased an elumatec SBZ 151 CNC machine. Adrian Palmer told us that this machine’s precision and productivity allowed the

business to further secure some important orders in the construction and architecture sector and exceed the expectations of their initial customers.

One of those customers supplied the construction industry with modular balconies. The elumatec machine supported thyssenkrupp Materials UK in delivering both the volume and the fine tolerances required.

The projects thyssenkrupp Materials UK were working on grew in both number and scope. Soon they needed more machining capacity and again, based upon their original positive experience, explored the elumatec range. Their second elumatec CNC machine, purchased in 2023, is from the same

family – another SBZ 151 model – but this time capable of handling aluminium profiles up to nine metres in length.

For example, one of the newest hotels on the Las Vegas strip – The Fontainebleau – is featuring façade panels cut and machined on thyssenkrupp

Materials UK CNC machining centre. Another customer works in the prestige field of data centre construction.

Adrian Palmer told us that the business is in an exciting stage. With two outstanding CNC machines, both with 5G capability and elumatec’s cloud-enabled software, they are equipped and ready to

explore collaboration with new partners in any sector.

The business is in a strong position. While that is due to a combination of factors: hard work, skill, vision and determination, that initial SBZ 151 CNC machine, combined with the support of the elumatec team, proved to make a positive impact on thyssenkrupp Materials UK new and improved operational strategy. As Adrian Palmer told us: “That sound investment at the outset proved

important. It takes a good team and good tools in today’s manufacturing world. Thankfully, we’ve got both.”

THE BUSINESS BENEFITS OF ACCREDITED TRAINING

Lately, there has been considerable discussion surrounding the Building Safety Act 2022, emphasising the need to elevate quality and safety standards through competency, not just for Higher Risk Buildings but for all buildings. Obtaining appropriate qualifications is one method to showcase skills and knowledge, while accredited training courses offer another avenue.

Seeking accreditation for your courses can significantly enhance their value, particularly in situations where formal qualifications might not be suitable, but where you still aim to provide training of value for your employees and clients. Let’s delve into the process and advantages of developing accredited courses.

Firstly, accreditation can apply to various types of training, whether it’s conducted in classrooms, factories, offices, or out in the field. GQA Qualifications has partnered with many wellknown organisations in this respect, and they’ve found accredited training to be instrumental in preventing errors in fabrication, enhancing product familiarity, reducing the need for site remediation work, increasing profitability, and attracting fresh relationships with professionals seeking to broaden their expertise.

An essential aspect to grasp about the accreditation journey is that YOU determine what aspects are most critical for maximising benefits

to your business and clientele. The process for accreditation requires that you become an approved GQA training centre, a simple application process which our Technical Team (or an External Quality Advisor) will guide you through, and this is integral to the permission to offer any qualification or accreditation from an Awarding Organisation.

However, indicating to industry that you are a recognised training provider for GQA accredited courses is a strong endorsement of quality, especially since we are a regulated Awarding Organisation.

Declaring that an Awarding Organisation for the sector has assessed your course for rigour and learning outcomes is the value-added which complements the quality and strengths of your course. It sets you apart from other organisations which offer training where their content is selfcertified; it is hard to prove the value of learning on the issuance of a ‘Certificate of Attendance’.

Accreditation can also serve as the acknowledgment candidates seek to showcase their understanding of a specific topic to prospective customers or decision-makers.

The accreditation process provides reassurance that the required learning objectives are defined, the learning outcomes are verified, course content is structured for consistency, and is delivered and conducted without prejudice. This process is achieved by:

1. Assessing that your course content is supportive to the learning outcomes.

2. Introducing an end assessment to test learners’ comprehension of course content, with an outcome based on a ‘certificate of understanding rather than a ‘certificate of attendance.’

DAN’S COLUMN

3. Implementing ‘reasonable adjustment’ for individuals with learning difficulties, for example there are 20,000 dyslexic individuals in the UK construction industry.

4. Maintaining a non-biased approach to assessment.

5. Ensuring the existence of an appeals procedure, should anyone dispute the outcome of the end of course assessment.

6. Undergoing regular quality assurance assessment by one of our GQA External Quality Assessors to verify all structure and fairness procedures have remained implemented, and to ensure uniformity in course delivery has been maintained.

The rigour introduced in relation to course content and procedures for fairness and consistency ensures that no matter who takes the course, wherever the location, with whichever trainer and timeframe – the quality and standard remains the same.

Once your courses are accredited, a great place to start is to upskill and educate your employees , in particular your customer-facing employees, such as customer services, sales and specifiers. Your organisation will be reassured that they have been empowered with the knowledge to educate, inform, specify and support customers and key decision-makers without providing misleading statements or the mis-selling of your services or products.

Ensuring that your customer-facing employees are appropriately trained is relevant now more than ever. Under the Building Safety Act 2022, Section 148, a person who fails to comply with a construction product requirement in relation to a construction product, a person who markets or supplies a construction product and makes a misleading statement in relation to it, or a person who manufactures a construction product that is inherently defective is subject to extended liability periods and penalties, thus offering residents and homeowners greater protection and right of recourse over greater time periods.

But the benefits of offering accredited training programmes does not end with your own employees. Courses relating to your products, including the delivery of topic or technical related courses can be expanded out to your customers

and key decision-makers, who will also be tested and rewarded for demonstrating comprehension in the same way as your employees. In this way, your customers and partners will be equally empowered to make the right decisions when selecting and specifying your products, thereby increasing quality and safety. They will seek your organisation as the ‘go-to’ resource to enable them to accrue the appropriate product-related skills and knowledge for their role. All of which contributes to the development of trusted relationships and the strengthening of your brand.

This process of education also allows your organisation to exert an element of quality and control of your products once they have left your factory and have entered the market. Thus, we begin to grasp the significance of accredited training in adding value. It enhances vocational qualifications by supplementing skills and knowledge in particular areas relevant to products and technical subjects, fostering a more proficient individual dedicated to ongoing professional growth.

Crafting the course content for an accredited programme entails diligent effort, yet it can prove to be a relatively straightforward and enjoyable process. Once established, the course can be readily adapted for broader accessibility in diverse regions and languages, all while upholding the same standards of rigor, equity, and consistency.

Finally, those acquainted with GQA Qualifications are likely to be aware of the additional option for digital certificates and virtual skills cards. These are accessible via new digital applications to minimise paper usage, decrease our operational carbon footprint and enhance convenience. Furthermore, virtual cards can be personalised with your organisation’s logo, serving as your own digital product passport. Moreover, it instils greater consumer confidence in your workforce when verification is requested.

If you feel that developing accredited training is something you may be interested in and wish to explore further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me on dan.brown@gqaqualificatons.com alternatively, phone 07572 736323.

The work of the BPF Council helps to shape the approach and priorities of the organisation. I look forward to my new role and am keen to support the existing ambitions of the current president, Nigel Flowers.

KEYSTONE MARKET RESEARCH RELEASES

SECOND UK CONSUMER FENESTRATION TRENDS REPORT, SPONSORED BY EPWIN WINDOW SYSTEMS

Keystone Market Research is pleased to announce the release of the second edition of its quarterly UK Consumer Fenestration Trends report, sponsored by Epwin Window Systems, offering insights into changing preferences and homeowner buying priorities in the fenestration market.

The latest edition looks at the shifts in homeowner views compared to the initial survey, uncovering intriguing swings that are shaping the industry. To maintain a balance between new content and tracking homeowner views over time to build up trends, each report presents the data results from a different angle to ensure that the information is as easy to understand and apply to your business as possible.

While the first report offered a comprehensive overview of overall results at a product level, the Spring edition takes a closer look at regional preferences. By examining each area in turn, readers gain valuable awareness of the unique needs of local audiences, highlighting both similarities and variations across regions.

As shown in the Winter report, online search and visibility are playing an increasingly crucial role in consumer decision-making. Therefore, this edition

also features expert guest advice from Laura Trowbridge on maximising opportunities in this area.

Charlotte Hawkes, Director of Keystone Market Research, comments: “Feedback on our inaugural report was overwhelmingly positive, with companies praising its strategic value and user-friendly format. Our annual subscribers are finding the Spring report to again be an invaluable resource, with comments on how interesting it is to see the changes in homeowner preferences quarter by quarter and how useful it is for generating installer support content. Building on the first edition results, we’ve packed this latest release with unique homeowner insights and practical guides to empower fenestration businesses and we’ll continue enhancing the format based on customer feedback to ensure we’re delivering ongoing value.”

Looking ahead, the Summer report will analyse results by homeowner profiles, aiding companies in gaining deeper insights into their target audience and enabling them to adapt their marketing efforts effectively. Meanwhile, the Autumn report promises to be the most thorough yet, drawing from the views of over 4000 homeowners by that point - the largest published dataset of its kind - to provide a comprehensive overview of UK homeowner views on fenestration products. Additionally, it will include the first look at anticipated homeowner-indicated spend levels on home improvement in 2025.

The second report is available now, with single report or annual subscription purchase options. For more information, please visit www.keystonemr.co.uk.

99% OTIF AND ACCURATE DELIVERY REPORTS ARE DRIVING CUSTOMER

SATISFACTION AT SHEERLINE

Sheerline has revealed how vertical integration, internal communications, and a focus on providing an agile service have enabled it to achieve a world class OTIF (on time, in full) of 99.1% in February, followed by 99% in March – helping maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

While benchmarking OTIF to assess performance is not uncommon for manufacturers, Sheerline tracks a particularly harsh standard, monitoring at full order level, not by item.

This means that if a single item is missing from any order (that may contain dozens of items), the full order counts against the overall OTIF score.

Delivery reports are sent the day before orders are due to be delivered and contain everything the customer needs to know. This includes an itemised list of the products being delivered, which is split by their orders. Not only does this give customers full visibility of what is being delivered and when, it also helps them to plan their production effectively, splitting everything down by individual customer projects if required.

Attention to detail and going the extra mile is something Sheerline has become known for thanks to initiatives such as this. The driving force behind this achievement is the key goal shared

across all departments: customer satisfaction.

Alongside its single site, vertically integrated state of the art manufacturing, this enables Sheerline to offer incredible 5-day lead times on standard colours across its entire range.

Steve Musgrave, Sheerline Operations Director, commented: “Receiving an OTIF of just over 99% in February is an enormous achievement for the team, but we cannot let complacency set in. Our challenge now is to improve further and then maintain those levels, so customer satisfaction remains high.”

“We’re passionate about continuous improvement, striving for perfection and the highest possible standards across every element of the business, which is why our processes receive the same attention as our products. Ultimately, the result is happy customers, who know what they’re getting, when they’re getting it, and that they can depend on us,” he added.

Garnalex is celebrating after the company was named the ninth fastest growing company in the UK according to the ORESA Growth Index 2024. The coveted index champions innovation, economic growth, and the inspirational business leaders behind the featured companies.

Not only is it impressive to make the index, which only features the top 100 companies in the UK, but for Garnalex to enter the list for the first time in ninth place with a 171.07 per cent compound annual growth rate is a testament to the leadership team.

In addition, while there were nine companies on the list from the East Midlands last year, there are only six this year. When considering the timeframe includes the covid and postcovid recovery years, which saw many businesses struggling, it’s even more impressive.

One of the key trends from this year’s findings highlight the rise of sustainable businesses and initiatives. Garnalex prides itself on the sustainable processes it has woven into the very foundations of the business.

For instance, the company uses UK-sourced aluminium to keep its carbon footprint low, while also ensuring supply chain security, and recycles all its aluminium offcuts.

Roger Hartshorn, Garnalex’s CEO, said: “To be recognised as one of the top ten fastest growing companies in the UK is a huge achievement in itself, but when you consider the context and climate in which we and other businesses are currently operating in, it’s fantastic.”

“It’s also proof of what you can achieve when you have the right strategic vision, ideas, investment, products, and people working together – all of which Garnalex has,” he added.

At UAP, we’re passionate about pushing boundaries and supporting endeavours that embody resilience, teamwork, and the spirit of adventure. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our support for Team Seasoar in the World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic, as part of the UAP Charity Pledge 2024-25.

About the World’s Toughest Row –Atlantic

The World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic is no ordinary race. It’s an annual event that sees up to 30 teams brave the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean in rowing boats. The race kicks off in early December from San Sebastian in the Canary Islands and concludes at the tropical shores of Antigua in the West Indies. This gruelling challenge tests the

limits of human endurance and fortitude, as teams row continuously, facing the relentless elements of the open ocean.

The Journey Ahead

For Team Seasoar, the journey will be both physically and mentally demanding. The race involves a relentless schedule: rowing for two hours, then sleeping for two hours, around the clock. On bad days, they will contend with waves towering up to 20 feet high. The physical toll is immense, with each team member expected to lose an average of 12kg over the course of the journey. They will burn 5,000 calories daily and need to drink 10 litres of water to stay hydrated.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

Competing in the World’s Toughest Row isn’t just about personal achievement; it’s also about making a difference. Teams fund their boats through advertising and raise money for various charities through sponsorships. By supporting Team Seasoar, UAP is contributing to a significant cause, aligning with our commitment to social responsibility and community support.

Preparation and Dedication

The preparation for such a formidable challenge is extensive. Recently, UAP Group Sales Director

UAP SUPPORTS TEAM SEASOAR IN THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST ROW

Barry Halpin had the opportunity to meet with Niall Brannigan from Team Seasoar to get a first-hand look at the boat that will carry them across the Atlantic. This meeting highlighted the meticulous planning and rigorous training that goes into readying for the race. The dedication and hard work of Team Seasoar are truly inspiring.

Barry expressed his admiration, stating, “Meeting Niall and seeing the boat up close was an eyeopener. The commitment and preparation required for such an extreme challenge are incredible. At UAP, we are proud to support Team Seasoar and their noble cause.”

The Road Ahead

As we embark on this journey with Team Seasoar, we are excited to follow their progress and support

them every step of the way. Their determination and perseverance reflect the values we hold dear at UAP. We believe in the power of teamwork and the extraordinary accomplishments that can be achieved when people come together with a shared goal.

Barry added, “We’re eagerly looking forward to cheering Team Seasoar on as they tackle the Atlantic. Their journey exemplifies the spirit of endurance and unity, which resonates deeply with our own company ethos.”

2024: THE YEAR SO FAR

VBH, the hardware manufacturer behind the greenteQ brand, is reporting a good year so far, despite tough market conditions.

Here’s what Gary Gleeson, Marketing Manager at the firm, has to say:

“We always knew that 2023 and 2024 were going to be much more of a challenge than we had been use to in recent years. One of the messages delivered at last year’s Glazing Summit was that 2024 would continue at a lower level than 2023, so it’s hardly come as a surprise to anyone!

However, we can advise that, as of May, everything is going well at VBH. We have put in a few measures to help things along, as detailed here.

Market and Customers Health Update

There have been a few well-publicised company failures this year. Happily, we can report that VBH has been largely unaffected by these.

The vast majority of our customers have put into place their own strategies to ride out any downturns in the economy or other unforeseen issues so, although some are less busy than in previous years, many are flying and the effect on us overall is negligible. This is helped, of course, by our continued drive to introduce more products and take on new customers, too.

New Appointments to Strengthen Departments

We continue to make changes to our processes and make new appointments to help secure new business and to ensure that we continue to offer our customers the top-level customer service that they all expect, both before and after the sale.

Most recently, we have expanded our technical support team with the recruitment of Daran Woodcock in the new role of External Technical Supervisor, and his team has been further expanded by the addition of

Our external sales team has been bolstered by the arrival of Ollie Safhill as our Regional Sales Manager North - England.

Steve Thomas to the external technical fold. Both are vastly experienced ‘hardware men’, and are there to support VBH customers and colleagues alike, as well as playing a key role in our product testing program.

Ollie has a wealth of knowledge both in hardware sales and on the technical side, and is already proving to be a big hit with his customers.

New Product Development

A mainstay of our drive for success is New Product Development.

We have introduced a number of new products in recent months, including new locking systems for aluminium and PVCu windows. A very welcome addition to our greenteQ range is our Dry Lube lubricant for profile cylinders and other locks. greenteQ Dry Lube is specially formulated to penetrate deep into the cylinder to keep it in tiptop condition. We recommend that cylinders are maintained at least every six months, so anyone selling cylinders to consumers either loose or as part of a door, should consider adding this to their own range, and offering it as an upsell to their

customers a hat trick of guarantees to offer their potential customers. Used correctly, they can steer the conversation away from price and help avoid the dreaded ‘race to the bottom’.

National Fenestration Awards

Once again, we are grateful that we have received enough nominations from our friends in the industry to have reached the final short lists in a number of categories at the prestigious National Fenestration Awards.

We are hoping to be voted Best Hardware Company for the fourth time in six years, and have also made the cut in the following categories:

Our greenteQ Furniture Guarantee

All furniture items within our greenteQ Suite are now covered by a 20-year surface guarantee, and all products from our architeQ stainless steel range come with a 25-year guarantee.

If that is not reason enough to fit greenteQ, qualifying customers can benefit from the enhanced guarantee. In this case, the consumer registers their installation with VBH direct via our bespoke website, and if there is an issue with the greenteQ furniture during the life of the guarantee, VBH will sort out the problem directly with the end-user. The installer and fabricator can wave goodbye to annoying and costly service calls about furniture.

This greenteQ Furniture Guarantee joins our proteQ10 cylinder guarantee and Q-secure consumer security guarantee to offer VBH

WINDOW WIDGETS’ NAMED IN 2024 NATIONAL FENESTRATION AWARDS SHORTLIST FOR STEEL REINFORCEMENT

On the market for more than 15 years and manufactured with a universal approach in Britain, the Werbar is a uPVC reinforcement product designed with window and door fabrication in mind. VEKA: THE INDUSTRY’S INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY CHAMPION

VEKA plc is a UK leader in the design, development and extrusion of PVCu window, door and conservatory systems. Established for over 50 years, it employs more than 400 people from its UK manufacturing facility based in Burnley, Lancashire, and proudly shapes environments by creating sustainable products that set the standard across the industry.

Here, we explore VEKA’s imprint on the sector, looking back at its heritage in sustainability, its latest innovation and plans to continue trailblazing well into the future.

Heritage in sustainability

Heinrich Laumann, the owner and founder of the VEKA Group, developed the world’s very first window recycling plant in the early 1990s, in Sendenhorst, Germany. A pioneer at heart, he was an early adopter of sustainable principals and identified a need to assess how waste PVCu was being used during the manufacturing process, and at end of life. His ambition being that no PVCu should be sent to landfill or incinerated – with 100% being recycled.

Millions of pounds were invested to create a plant which would repurpose the PVCu within windows, encapsulating the materials through coextrusion to breathe new life into the product. The plant quickly became a beacon of best practice and to this day sets a standard in global recycling which others strive to replicate.

Using the closed loop process at VEKA Recycling’s Wellingborough facility opened in 2007 – taking used windows, breaking them down into raw materials and rebuilding them as new products – the company can recycle PVCu windows and doors up to ten times. As a result, one uPVC window or door can have as much as 350 years of usage.

Having anticipated just how engrained sustainability and recycling would become to the industry’s psyche, VEKA Recycling’s £15m Wellingborough facility was designed with

expansion in mind. Now, as part of an ongoing project, VEKA is increasing the warehouse’s capacity to process 25,000 tonnes of waste PVCu – up from its existing 18,000 tonne capacity –each year, enabling it to support thousands more businesses.

Quantum leap innovators

Continually at the forefront of the industry when it comes to innovation, VEKA is currently launching a revolutionary window system that will set the standard for windows of the future.

Inspired by a VEKA customer who questioned why her flush-fitting windows were only flush on the outside and not the inside of her property, OMNIA is the result of a three-year-long period of research and development to create the UK’s first double-rebated, doubleflush system. It offers a complete suite of design opportunities for Casement Windows, Tilt and Turn Windows, Residential and French Doors, using just nine different profiles – being the first double flush system ever available as a full suite.

OMNIA also looks set to transform fabrication by offering the highest levels of technical performance, with a co-extruded gasket system that is automatically mated with the extrusions during manufacture, meaning no more time-consuming fitting by hand.

As well as the automatically mated co-extruded gasket system, OMNIA supports various mechanical jointing techniques, including Timberweld and VEKA’s patented, highly-cost effective ProJoin Gen 2 method. In practice, this means that recreating the look of a classic mortice and tenon joint is easy – ideal for when it comes to projects in conservation areas and the increasing demand for authentic detailing.

VEKA’s time tested profile details reduce bespoke tooling requirements – another big industry win – while for installers, the suite’s 70mm depth makes for an easy swap out of old units. Crucially, it offers full compliance with current and future building regulations.

Hailed as a ‘trailblazing, quantum leap in fabrication’, OMNIA has received a thoroughly positive response since its launch to the industry in April.

Future-facing plans

As well as its latest advances in sustainability and innovation, VEKA recently unveiled more of its exciting plans to lead in the areas that make up its DNA – quality, innovation and sustainability – at a recent partner event.

Fabrication businesses from across the UK and Ireland recently came together with VEKA for a full day of partnership activities and information sharing focused on VEKA’s commitment to delivery of the highest quality products, innovative approaches and sustainable solutions.

Partners who attended gained the opportunity to learn about VEKA’s innovative digital design support and specification tool for the fenestration industry, WinDoPlan, created to help users navigate upcoming changes to the Future Homes Standard.

Continuously innovating and leading the way in terms of its manufacturing excellence, the business has also recently welcomed Sam Ferguson to the team as its new Head of Operational Excellence – who brings valuable insights and experience to further enhance operations. Not only does VEKA offer the highest quality Windows and Doors, it also leads the way in seeking to continuously improve customer relationships by offering a seamless, consistent level of service which helps their businesses to grow.

Neil Evans, Managing Director at VEKA plc, said: “VEKA is dedicated to revolutionising the PVCu sector through our approach to design, innovation and customer focus. Our latest developments and new products, developed through collaboration with industry partners, will introduce a new era to the window and door sector.”

EDGETECH TAKES STEPS TO CUT EMBODIED CARBON

Quanex company Edgetech have spent decades making buildings more thermally efficient – and in doing so, have helped cut carbon emissions around the world.

However, as well as supplying the outstanding spacer bar products needed to manufacture highly energy efficient windows, in recent years the company’s attention has increasingly turned to reducing its own carbon footprint.

This year, these efforts have seen Edgetech significantly reduce its usage of plastic packaging. Manufacturing plastic is a major contributor to carbon emissions worldwide, and effectively recycling and disposing of it poses an ongoing challenge.

Similarly, the company is shifting to the use of glueless boxes in its spacer manufacturing, again reducing its reliance on a material with a significant environmental impact.

In doing so, the firm is taking steps to cut the

embodied carbon of its spacer products – the total carbon emitted in the process of manufacturing, transporting and installation of a product, then its lifetime after installation.

Managing Director Chris Alderson comments: “Edgetech, like Quanex more generally, is firmly committed to cutting carbon emissions – both by manufacturing some of the world’s leading spacer products, and reducing our own carbon footprints.

“Simply looking at the carbon emitted during dayto-day operations is no longer enough in an era where companies and countries around the world strive for net zero.

“Embodied carbon accounts for 11% of annual greenhouse gas emissions, and 28% of building sector emissions – and by cutting these, we can help steer construction into a greener future.”

EDGETECH CUSTOMERS RAVE ABOUT QUALITY, SERVICE AND RELIABILITY

Quanex company Edgetech, world-leading manufacturers of warm-edge spacer bars, have released the results of their latest customer survey.

Conducted between November and February, the survey revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback, highlighting Edgetech’s commitment to exceptional customer service, product quality, and on-time delivery.

100% of respondents received their orders on time and in full. Over 60% indicated they use Edgetech products for 90-100% of their IGU units, demonstrating their confidence in Edgetech’s quality and performance.

Customers also praised Edgetech’s communication, with over 60% expressing satisfaction with the frequency of customer visits, and 100% reporting that their technical inquiries were addressed promptly.

Encouragingly, 100% of respondents plan to continue using Edgetech for the next six months, indicating a strong foundation for future growth.

Overall, Edgetech achieved a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 82, exceeding the industry benchmark and indicating exceptional customer loyalty.

“We were delighted that the survey revealed such positive feedback,” said Paula Considine, Customer Service Manager for Edgetech.

“These results underscore Edgetech’s unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and position the company for continued success.

“We’ll keep striving to exceed expectations and deliver industry-leading products and service.”
