A compilation of concepts marking the design journey of DS3 ďŹ nal project.

Design Brief The Life Experience Hub +Hybrid is the host to a diversified range of social events, workshops, programs, demonstrations and essentials to nurture a sharing and caring culture.

The final project provides the opportunity to explore architectural spaces and experience(s) instilled in the societal life. Specifically, under the initiatives from Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), the proposal for the Life Experience# Hub +Hybrid aims to inspire inclusive and active social engagement and participation. This new placemaking is for partaking, identifying, learning, and creating social space typologies that offers “innovative, socially conscious, sustainable and spatial design solutions.”* The architectural design must take into consideration of the building’s programmes, the building’s formal expression and spaces that involve and revolve the social life of a community.

A social-driven centre that reflects a collegial ethos based on an understanding of the spatial and experiential connections

by Planting Social Sanity – a centre for planting Social Engagement & Empowering Development (SEED) for the community to correspond with the architecture in the context of contemporary Singapore.

The challenge is to re-imagine an all-embracing and empowering composition of human experiences with the site of Life Experience Hub +Hybrid.

THE SITE IS LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL AREA OF THE CENTRAL REGION

Sub Division 2

The subdivision emcompassess several art insitutions, places of worships for different religions and museums/exhibition areas.

Overall the site has a strong arts scene with spaces for independent design houses and showcases opportunities through the different gallery spaces scattered. The site also holds many annual art related events that alter the street atmosphere into a more youth-centric art zone.

Why Ceramics?

Out of all the crafts, clay is the most accessible for all age groups. And it is relatively aordable when you compare it to things like metalsmithing or woodworking, which require more equipment and perhaps some strength, too.

This project put me completely out of my element and juggling my own ideals and the goals of MSF proved challenging due to the sheer contrast. I decided to approach this project conceptually instead of taking a down to earth perspective which i believe works with the experimental designs I presented
