Portfolio.

Mondrian Fountain

Assignment Brief: Produce a design and 3D print inspired by the golden ratio under the theme “playscape�. The design should fit in the maximum dimensions of a 10mx10mx10m box.

Project score: A+

Inspired by Piet Mondrian's Composition With Red Blue and Yellow, The waterscape invites interaction using water features such as a main splashing area, elevated pools and taps.

With no activity, imagination.

The possible but not limited to activities are splashing around, toy boats, rinsing under taps or simply watching a fallen leaf be carried from the top of the fountain to the bottom.

The widths and lengths of the fountain are based of the squares of the golden ratio while the direction of water is inspired by Fibonacci Spiral. The heights of each fountain were found by placing the grid of the spiral beside and matching the the different height ratios so the emphasis of proportioning were kept.

Piet Mondrian also used the grids in his famous paintings, hence the basis of my playscape theme.
