TELSTRA PAYPHONE PLANNED REMOVAL
Telstra is proposing to remove the payphone outside the Star Hotel, 118 Sanger Street, Corowa NSW 2646 and is seeking community feedback.
Currently, the next nearest payphone is located approximately 150 metres away outside 34 Queen Street, Corowa NSW 2646. Telstra is inviting comments on the proposal in writing to: Telstra Payphone Siting Manager Locked Bag 4850 Melbourne VIC 3001

Telstra will make a final decision by Wednesday 1 October, 2025.
BOOK WEEK COLOURING COMPETITION
Hey young artists! Our Federation Council Libraries colouring competition for Book Week is starting this week! This year’s theme is “Book an Adventure,” so grab your crayons, pencils, and markers and bring your most thrilling journeys to life. There are book vouchers and art packs/vouchers up for grabs for winners in three age groups: 0-5, 6-9, and 10-13 years. Colouring sheets are available from local schools or any Federation Council Library (Corowa, Howlong & Mulwala) and Urana Council Office.
Entries close at 5pm on Tuesday 26 August, 2025. Remember, you need to be a library member to enter – if you’re not, “How to Join” forms are readily available when collecting your colouring sheets. SCIENCE WEEK AT THE COROWA LIBRARY
Get ready for a prehistoric adventure at the Corowa Library this Science Week!
Follow the colourful footprints to discover giant creatures from the past and meet their modern-day cousins.
See amazing creatures like:
• Tyrannosaurus rex and chickens
• Diprotodon and wombats
• Deinosuchus and crocodiles + more!
Can you find them all? Follow the footprints and go on a scavenger hunt to learn about these incredible animals. Join us for a roaring good time!

STRATEGIC DOCUMENTS NOW AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING
Federation Council is proud to present our Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program 2025-2029, Operational Plan and Annual budget for the 2025/26 financial year.
• The Future Federation 2040 Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is a pivotal document which provides a shared vision that reflects the collective aspirations and priorities of our entire Local Government Area. It will serve as our roadmap for the next 15 years, guiding the region’s growth, sustainability, and development.
Any persons may make a submission on the proposal within a period of fourteen (14) days from the date of this notification. Persons making a submission are required to comply with Section 147(5) of the Environmental Planning Assessment Act (Political Donations & Gifts Disclosure Statement). Forms are available from Council’s administrative offices.
FEDERATION YOUTH COUNCIL SEEKING APPLICATIONS
Are you aged 12-25, live, work, or study in the Federation Council area, and passionate about making a difference? Applications are now open for the Federation Youth Council (FYC)!
This is your chance to be the “youth voice” of our community. As a member of the FYC, you’ll:
• Provide advice directly to the Council on issues that matter to you.
• Help define priority areas and implement exciting projects and events.

COMMUNITY FORUM: 41 LOT SUBDIVISION | 1-19 JUDE STREET HOWLONG
A community forum will be held on Monday 25 August, 2025 at 5.30pm the Community Centre 110 Hammer Street, Howlong. The forum is being held as a result of the Council resolution at its July 2025 Council meeting at which Councillors considered that further community consultation was required in relation to the standard of construction of Pearce Street.

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
- MIKI CITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Federation Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from residents to join the Miki City Advisory Committee.
A visit from our Miki City friends is planned during 2026 and the committee will be active in assisting organising the itinerary, supporting host families and assisting with activities.
In its 29th year, this enduring sister city relationship fosters invaluable connections between our two nations, offering alternating delegations from Federation Council and Miki City, Japan the chance to experience each other’s cultures firsthand, create lasting memories, and forge lifelong friendships.
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are open until Friday 22 August, 2025. To express interest, please complete the online EOI form available from Council’s website.
• The Delivery Program 2025-2029 is a key document that translates our community’s long-term vision into actionable plans. This four-year strategic roadmap is designed to achieve the community aspirations laid out in the Future Federation 2040 Community Strategic Plan (CSP).
• The Operational Plan and Annual Budget for the 2025/26 financial year is a key component of our Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) Framework, serving as Council’s commitment to the community for all the projects, programs, and actions we plan to undertake in the coming year.

SERVICE NSW COROWA AGENCY REOPENING WITH INTERIM HOURS
Following recent discussions with Service NSW representatives, we are pleased to announce that Service NSW are providing staff to operate the Corowa Agency two days per week until further notice. This means the Service NSW Corowa Agency will still be operating, albeit on a reduced schedule. The interim hours of operation will be:
• Monday: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm (Closed for Lunch 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm)
• Tuesday: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm (Closed for Lunch 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm)
We understand that the initial announcement of a temporary closure was concerning, and we appreciate your understanding and patience as Council and Service NSW have worked together through these challenges to ensure continued service. For your service needs on other days, the nearest Service NSW centres are located in Albury and Finley. You can also contact Service NSW by phone at 13 77 88 or online at www.service. nsw.gov.au.
Information on when the Mobile Service Centre will be visiting a town near you is also available on the Service NSW website. https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/mobile-service-centres Council is still actively exploring options to ensure this valuable service can fully resume, and we will provide further updates on the future of the Service NSW Corowa Agency as soon as more information becomes available.
