THE FRASER COAST IS PARADISE! BLESSED WITH SOME OF AUSTRALIA’S BEST NATURAL ASSETS, A RICH HISTORICAL OFFERING AND BEAUTIFUL WEATHER AND LIFESTYLE, THE FRASER COAST IS A MUST VISIT FOR THOSE HITTING THE ROAD ON A TRIP THROUGH QUEENSLAND.

BAUPLE Located just off the Bruce Highway, south of Tiaro is the home of the bopple nut, more commonly known as the macadamia nut. First discovered in 1858 near Mount Bauple, they can now be purchased directly from macadamia farms that exist in the Bauple area. Mount Bauple holds strong Aboriginal and cultural significance, and is a pristine setting to visit. The Bauple Museum in the centre of town is also a must do and there is a site available for caravan stays.

BURRUM COAST The Burrum Coast, just a short drive from Hervey Bay, features a number of picturesque villages that offer beautiful beaches, exceptional local produce served in local cafés and restaurants, country charm and colonial architecture. In the coastal townships of Toogoom and Burrum Heads you can eat fresh local seafood, stroll on unspoiled beaches, or fish from the shore or a tinny. Inland, Howard and Torbanlea are relics of the bygone coal mining era,

complete with old fashioned country charm, historic homes and mining museum. The Burrum Coast offers several caravan sites and camping options, all within close proximity of vital facilities and the Bruce Highway.

POONA One word to describe Poona? Peaceful. This little township is tucked away in the Great Sandy Strait between Boonooroo and Tinnanbar, adjacent to Fraser Island and is an ideal place to pitch your tent and lap up the serenity. Throw in a line, have a dip in the ocean and let the kids play in the sand while you relax. Just 35km from Maryborough, Poona is popular with holidaymakers who enjoy plenty of space and good fishing from boats or the beach. It’s a great place for children to swim safely, with dolphins playing just off the beach. When the tide goes out, you can explore the tidal pools, pump for yabbies on the beach or chase soldier crabs. VISITFRASERCOAST.COM/CARAVAN-CAMPING
