DESIGN Identify a stable, vegetated area to receive water from the downspout. This area should be at least 5’ away from structures. It is critical that the disconnected downspout does not cause a hazard or nuisance to neighboring properties.

SIZING AND CREDIT To be effective, water from the downspout needs to travel across at least 15 feet of a pervious surface, such as lawn or a gravel trench.
