IT’S ALWAYS USEFUL TO KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENT GENERATIONS WANT IN THEIR LIVES. IT’S ALSO INTERESTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THEIR SHOPPING HABITS
BABY BOOMERS – 1944-
1964: They are the most discerning and demanding of all generations when it comes to shopping and have the greatest amount of spending power. They prefer shopping in store – as opposed to online.
Christine Cappendale, a multi-talented chef and cook book author, says two products top her list – her trusty Kenwood Chef is her favourite appliance which she uses regularly, and her Smeg stove.
GEN X – 1965-1980:
Access to the internet was introduced at the beginning of their careers. They now have a hybrid relationship with technology, and are more likely to research online for exactly what they are looking for, before shopping in person.
Bubbly Aritha Aleka, a busy mum and entrepreneur, is definitely a typical Gen
X shopper who loves to research products – but prefers to shop in store. Best products? Her energy saving
LG fridge-freezer and her 13-place LG dishwasher.
MILLENNIALS – 19811996: Millennials are the new financial powerhouse generation. Many of them are parents, and to save time and the hassle of dragging children around the shops, they shop online.
Ashira and Jay Lu, new parents and discerning shoppers, couldn’t live without their Nespresso coffee machine to start their day off. As busy working parents their Defy dishwasher gives them more time to spend with little Nora.
