L’ATELIER DU ROSÉ

A selection of students from UAL: were briefed on the ‘Art of Rosé’ through an introduction to Miraval the wine and the estate.
Encouraging freedom of expression and multi-media usage but restricting the palette of colours and output format to create harmony and unity to the final display - as the world of wine does with a 75cl bottle.
30 individual interpretations of Miraval: The Art of Rosé selected from over 70 entries - a blend of design, illustration, print, mark-making, painting, graphic design, AR and photography. 6 were shortlisted and are separated. A whimsical exaggeration, tongue in cheek reference to the popular fairground stall and the Can Can dance of the 1840’s - which is still part of French cabaret today. Cancan is also french slang for gossiping.

The bubble wrap represents the Co2 produced at fermentation which we carefully capture, clean, condense, store and re-introduce at bottling. We do so in a very measured manner, like a tailor, to ensure the diffusion of bubbles in the wine is precisely as desired.
We call this innovation Methode Contemporaine.
A re-modelling of the ‘Porte du Soleil’ sculpture by Iavn Avoscan which is located on the Autoroute du Soleil (A7) at Savasse.
The name of the wine Arc du Soleil is inspired by the arc of sun-drenched vineyards of the South of France which stretches from Toulon in the East to Perpignan in the West.
It is also an oblique reference to the french term for a rainbow Arc du Ciel.

Music for your tastebuds
The vinous concept of terroir illustrated through a stylised image of the Mont Sainte Victoire in Provence. Mont Sainte Victoire was the muse of Cezanne which he painted numerous times, from many angles. Blending this with the Hockney idea of ‘Painting with a camera’ we have created an image made from many aspects, angles and viewpoints.
Symbolising the differences of location, soil, topography, aspect and micro-climates and their influences on the final taste profile of two wines, Miraval and Miraval Sainte Victoire, from the same area geographical region.

HockneyTwo rare ‘black pearls’ inside a beautifully crafted ‘oyster’ ice bucket with a rose gold inner. Research has demonstrated that Champagne is particularly sensitive to damaging ultraviolet rays and sunlight, and, as a result, each bottle is lacquered so that the wine is never exposed to light until the day the bottle is opened.

Yves Klein was a French artist chiefly noted for his blue monochrome paintings and for his audacious experiments with new techniques and new attitudes to art in the 1960’s. He created and invented International Klein Blue (IKB) a deep blue hue which he used to ‘liberate colour from the prison that is the line’.
To signify and celebrate our developments in Rosé we mirrored this idea and imagery as the overarching concept and look for the exhibition/tasting.
