Practicing the same skills with the same passion as for Château de Beaucastel, the Perrin Family reveal the spirit of each terroir, its authenticity and its unique specificity. Encapsulated within each of these wines, the Famille Perrin signature: the organic and biodynamic approach, the art of blending and the fresh flavours of the South.

Les Crus SOUTHERN RHONE

CAIRANNE PEYRE BLANCHE Our vineyard (acquired in 2008) at Cairanne extends over 14 hectares to the south-west of the old village between Rasteau and Sainte-Cécile Les Vignes. This ideal position enables Grenache to ripen slowly.

Superb terraces of clay, gravel and soft sandstone with part of the vineyard dating back to the 50’s. The name is derived from the chalky terroir of the white surface stones.

CAIRANNE Cairanne, situated between Rasteau and Sainte-Cécile Les Vignes, is home to one of the finest terroirs in the Southern Rhône; on the western side of the Ventabren massif.

Picked by hand at optimum maturity the grapes are immediately transported to the cellar where they are meticulously sorted before being destemmed and vatted.

Cold fermentation for 15 days is followed by a relatively short maceration and vinification is concrete vats to preserve the freshness of the fruit and the suppleness of the tannins.

60% Grenache / 40% Syrah

Here our vines are cultivated 100% organically and produce a deliciously mouth-watering, fruit driven wine, with very fine tannins.

VINSOBRES LES CORNUDS

VINSOBRES Vinsobres is a magnificent village close to Vaison-la-Romaine and Nyons (an AOP for Black Olives). The name of this wine, Les Cornuds, alludes to the hamlet around which our vines grow, and which is also the name for a grape picker’s carrying hod.

This is a wine that is characterized by its immense freshness, thanks to the altitude of the vineyard, and the perfect balance between the Syrah and the Grenache.

We have a particular fondness for the terroir of Vinsobres, a magnificent village 20km north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The vines grow principally on terraces, particularly well suited to the cultivation of Syrah. Our vines span around 80ha of uninterrupted terraces and slopes to the north of the appellation, at an average altitude of 300 metres. This sublime landscape is dedicated to polyculture and fields of vines, olives trees and apricots trees are cultivated side by side, in total harmony. A unique place whose altitude and geographical situation create exceptional freshness in the grapes.

Limestone clay with stony, sandy marl on the slopes and stony, Quaternary alluviums on the terraces. It is a terroir that is particularly well adapted to Syrah, which possesses a finesse here that is not to be found in the more southerly parcels, developing aromas of violet, smoked meat, pencil lead and blackberry.

50% Grenache / 50% Syrah

RASTEAU L’ANDEOL A 2 hectare vineyard with south facing terraces of gravel on sand and Pliocene clay. Rasteau benefits from a peculiar Southern Rhône climate; for the most part the Grenache is facing south and exposed to unhindered sunshine and, importantly, protected from the mistral, enabling it to mature particularly well.

RASTEAU Rasteau is located at the opposite end of the Ventabren massif (a colossal hummock north-east of Chateauneuf du Pape) to Cairanne.The vineyards inhabit the eastern half of the southern face and rise up to 350m asl.

The wine is delightful that pairs well with hearty cuisine and can age for 5-8 years developing aromas of figs, dark chocolate and a texture typical of the appellation.

Part of the grapes are vinified in whole bunches, the other part is destemmed. The temperatures are controlled throughout the vinification and the extraction is done by punching down or pumping over. After malolactic fermentation, 90% of the ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks, 10% in oak Foudres. The wine is then aged for a year before bottling.

80% Grenache / 20% Syrah

VACQUEYRAS LES CHRISTINS Situated south of the Dentelles de Montmirail, our 8 hectares of vines at Sarrians are planted on stony terraces of clay, sand and sedimentary safres, with particularly good sunshine exposure. They are old vines with an average of 50 years of age.

VACQUEYRAS Vacqueyras is located only a very few kilometers south of Gigondas and indeed shares a border.

However it’s vineyards are mostly located on the plateau where warmer temperatures result in more powerful wines.

Our Vacqueyras Les Christins is a great example of a Grenache based wine from the Southern Rhône, with remarkable aromatic expression, immense structure, and huge ageing potential.

The Grenache and Syrah vines are planted together, which is fairly unusual and quite difficult since the difference in maturities between the two varieties can be some 5 to 10 days. The harvest date is therefore based on the maturity of the Grenache, with the Syrah being harvested very ripe.

Fermentation is quite long and extraction is obtained by manual cap punching. The grapes are all vinified together, which allows for a certain synergy in extractions – the wine develops a good concentration of aromas but without any harshness, with lovely spicy notes from the Syrah.

Following malolactic fermentation and blending, the wines are aged in foudres and barrels for one year.

75% Grenache / 25% Syrah

GIGONDAS LA GILLE

GIGONDAS Located in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail the picture postcard village of the southern Rhône is a Provencal jewel and a visit here is an absolute must. With our our restaurant,bistro,wine bar and rooms, Gigondas is the heart of the Famille Perrin operation.

A wine from terroirs of limestone and chalky marl with a high proportion of safres and sand that give the Grenache unique elegance and aromatic finesse.

The vineyards of Gigondas are split into two distinct areas: the plain and the Dentelles, with the finest terroir to be found just between the two. It is there, mid slope, that the vines that produce this wine grow, caressed by a current of cool air rising from the valley to the west of the village. This magnificent terroir provides the excellent permeability that gives unique finesse and elegance to mature Grenache, as well as superb freshness.

After being picked by hand, the grapes are sorted, crushed, and vatted in the cellar. The maceration period is long in order to soften and mellow the tannins. The result is a wine of tremendous delicacy that emphasizes the finesse of the Grenache. It is the key variety of this wine, which is of exceptional elegance. After malolactic fermentation and blending, short vinification with ageing in foudres or conical wooden vats for one year.

60% Grenache / 40% Syrah

GIGONDAS In the heart of the stunningly picturesque village of Gigondas under the plane trees Famille Perrin extends our hospitality with our family restaurant. Using locally sourced, seasonal produce it follows the families same guiding principles; working closely with nature and exacting the very best we can offer.

Since 2019 it has been the proud owner of one michelin star and a green michelin star for sustainability.

CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE LES SINARDS A wine created from the union of three vineyards: young vines at Beaucastel (under 20 years old), south-west facing Syrah from the Clos de Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and from Le Grès, 4km from Beaucastel.

CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE Located 15 km north of Avignon and Le Palais des Papes,, Chateauneuf- du-Pape is intrinsically entwined with papacy and famed around the world for it’s wines.

Les Sinards (aka the other Chataeuneuf from Famille Perrin) is made from young vines (under 20 years old) at Beaucastel and two neighbouring vineyards. Mainly Grenache, it is a very elegant wine that can be enjoyed immediately.

Miocene marine deposits covered with alpine diluvium and one parcel on Urgonian limestone. The young Beaucastel vines produce more abundant and slightly less concentrated grapes, enabling us to make a wine that is immediately accessible. The grapes from Clos de Châteauneuf-du-Pape offer spicy, complex, dense notes, whilst Le Grès is planted with Grenache on galets.

Each grape variety and plot is harvested separately. On arrival at the cellar the berries are sorted. Part of the Syrah is vinified in whole clusters and the remainder, plus the Grenache, is destemmed. Vinification is in wooden and stainless-steel vats using the same methods as for the Château de Beaucastel wines.

The wines are then tasted to determine the blend, and finally aged in foudres for 2 years.
