Focus on Health

Many new year magazine issues have a health focus in January, however this year it seems so much more poignant after the 2020 we’ve all been through!

Think about what works for you and your family in 2021. Some key health & fitness professionals help by sharing their tips, plus check out some clubs and classes to help kids keep fit.

Fancy getting into shape this year?… Nicola Porter, Founder and Trainer shares five tips from Move Happy Fitness to get you started: 1. There’s no need to go it alone! Group Exercise or working out with a friend makes you much more likely to succeed. Research shows you’ll get bonus endorphins too! 2. If you’ve had a break from exercise, go for a little and often approach. Just 10 minutes a day is enough to boost energy, metabolism, and strength. You’ll also build confidence and connection with your body, and see how much more is possible!

3. Remember exercise can be fun. If the thought of running/swimming puts you off, find something else instead! There are so many ways to move your body. 4. Train smarter not harder. Listen to your body. Great if you love high intensity or strength training (we do too!) but prioritise your rest days as well. Also consider cross-training with something restorative like Pilates or Yoga. 5. Be realistic and kind to yourself. If you miss a scheduled workout, look at why that happened but don’t give up. Tomorrow is another day! To find out more about classes on offer visit www.movehappyfitness.co.uk
