Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Eugenics and abortion Margaret Sanger was an American “birth control activist” who opened the first “birth control” clinic in the United States and established the organizations that became Planned Parenthood Federation. She was also a believer in Eugenics. Eugenics is a set of beliefs that practice or aim to improve the “genetic quality” of the human race by excluding certain groups of people that are judged to be “inferior” and promoting other groups that are judged to be “superior”. Hitler was also a supporter of Eugenics. Here are just a few quotes by Mrs. Sanger:

“How are we to breed a race of human thoroughbreds unless we follow the same plan? We must make this country into a garden of children instead of a disorderly back lot, overrun with human weeds.” Radio WFAB Syracuse, 1924-02-29, transcribed in “The Meaning of Birth Control”, April 1924, p. 111

“We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” Sanger, Margaret, 1879-1966, “Letter from Margaret Sanger to Dr. C.J. Gamble, December 10, 1939.,” Smith Libraries Exhibits, accessed March 18, 2019, https://libex.smith.edu/omeka/items/show/495.

YOU DECIDE. According to protectingblacklife.org, an organization with the primary objective of taking the pro-life conversation into the black community:

“Birth Control is not contraception indiscriminately and thoughtlessly practiced. It means the release and cultivation of the better racial elements in our society, and the gradual suppression, elimination and eventual extirpation of defective stocks — those human weeds which threaten the blooming of the finest flowers of American civilization.” "Apostle of Birth Control Sees Cause Gaining Here", The New York Times, 1923-04-08, p. XII.

Although some media channels have tried to state that Mrs. Sanger’s comments about “The Negro Project” have been taken out of context, copies of her letters and her viewpoints are well documented and available online. She wrote and spoke extensively about her views and advocated on behalf of her clearly racist views.

79% of Planned Parenthood surgical facilities are located within walking distance of African American or Hispanic/Latino communities. View the interactive map here: https://www.protectingblacklife.org/pp_targets/index.html
