Gulf Fluor in Brief Gulf Fluor is an Abu Dhabi based company specialized in chemical manufacturing, which was established in 2008, determined to meet the urgent and growing demand for Aluminum Fluoride in the Arab Gulf markets. After an extensive study by the best experts and technicians of the economic and technical viability, we built the Industrial Fluoride Complex with a specifications that emulate the latest modern technologies in this field, following international standards in design, safety, and environmental protection. The company’s commercial production of Aluminum Fluoride started in the last quarter of 2014. Gulf Fluor has entered into many strategic partnerships with leading European technology companies to get the latest technical solutions in the production of Aluminum Fluoride, Hydrogen Fluoride, and Sulphuric Acid. As a result of those strategic partnerships, Gulf Fluor in a position to provide all requirements that ensure continuous functioning and maintains its contribution in United Arab Emirates economy’s development and growth. According to this insight, the inauguration of this gigantic national project in ICAD 2 Abu Dhabi, comes as an actual embodiment of our wise leadership guidance. Gulf Fluor complex’s distinguished by being the first of its kind in the Middle East, not only in terms of the integration of production elements, which in itself constitutes a quantum leap and a milestone at the local, regional and international levels, but also through following the latest scientific theories and practical methods in producing of Aluminum Fluoride, Hydrogen Fluoride and Sulfuric Acid. Since the inception of our project, we have set a fundamental goal, of meeting the growing demand for fluoride chemicals at competitive prices, regionally and internationally; focusing on this goal to contribute effectively to the benefit of our national economy and partners. Unique Features Gulf Fluor Complex has many unique features that make it a milestone on the map of the Fluorine chemical industry, as it is the only one in the Middle East region, and one of the largest Aluminum Fluoride Plants in the world, as well as being the largest plant stationed in single unit. It consists of a Sulfuric acid plant, Hydrogen fluoride plant and Aluminum fluoride plant, as well as an industrial water treatment station and necessary utilities. In addition to the above, Gulf Fluor owns its sea access that enables it to benefit a range of appropriate services that enhance its competitiveness in the region. As well as the distinctive geographical location which allowing it to provide its services to most Aluminum smelters around the world.

Main products and By-products Gulf Fluor produces three core products, Aluminum fluoride, Hydrogen fluoride and Sulfuric acid, and two by-products which are Calcium sulfate and Calcium fluoride sludge The company’s products contribute in reducing import of raw materials used in the production of Aluminum, Cement blocks, Chemical fertilizers and other industries by providing the local market with the majority of its’ demand of those products, helps in achieving independence, reducing imports and increasing exports.

Main Products Aluminum Fluoride (AlF3) Is one of the key raw material to produce Primary Aluminum metal and manufactured through dry process using Fluorspar and Aluminum Tri Hydrate as a raw material. In this process high density Aluminum Fluoride is produced which is preferred by the modern Aluminum Smelters all over the world. It is also used as an additive in Aluminum Metal crucible.
Hydrogen Fluoride (AHF) An intermediate product for the manufacture of Fluorocarbons, such as R-134a and R-125, which are widely used in refrigeration and cooling applications, and Fluorinated polymers. It is also used for petrochemical manufacturing and production of nitrogen trifluoride.
Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4) Is a central substance in the chemical industry. Main uses include Mineral processing, Fertilizer manufacturing, Oil refining, Wastewater processing and Chemical synthesis. Sulphuric acid has a wide range of applications including soap and rubber producing, making- dyes, and plastic, iron, copper and detergent, as well as car batteries manufacturing.

By-products Calcium Sulfate (CaSO4) Is the by-product obtained during the manufacturing of Anhydrous Hydrofluoric acid with consistent quality, It is used for various application like cement manufacturing as a retardant, construction material, plaster board, soil preparation, medical use, and others.
Calcium Fluoride Sludge (CaF2) It is a product obtained by the neutralization of fluorine rich liquid from the Anhydrous Hydrofluoric acid and Aluminum Fluoride manufacturing process, It is used for various application as optical components manufacturing, metal surface processing, abrasive materials manufacturing, cement/white cement manufacturing etc...

Quality Assurance & Control In order to fulfill quality standards and to ensure that the product meets quality requirements, we have established a quality control laboratory. It is a specialized laboratory and part of the Gulf Fluor Fluorine complex. The laboratory provides complete analytical support to Sulphuric acid, Anhydrous Hydro Fluoric acid & Aluminum Fluoride, Utility & Wastewater Treatment Plants which has been supervised by QHSE Department who is also responsible for Implementation and Sustenance of Integrated Management systems (ISO) in Gulf Fluor. The Laboratory provides technically valid results for the raw-material, inprocess and finished product samples using state of art instruments / equipment’s like X- Ray, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Atomic Absorption, UV-Visible Spectrometer, Auto Titrators, Karl Fisher Titrators, Ion meters, by adopting International standard methods, methods provided by technology supplier and / or in-house developed methods for various parameters by multinational skilled manpower. Pursue the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in Asset management, good housekeeping of laboratory infrastructures and adherence to highest level of safety standards are being followed to ensure laboratory performance to the best in industries as well as smooth process flow of the whole plant.
