RULES OF THE GAME

Thank you for joining the adventure: you're about to start an exciting journey full of surprises!

TO

ENSURE A SMOOTH EXPERIENCE, PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

Your team will remain the same until the end of the game. Stay together!

A colour has been assigned to your team with a wristband. Please, keep it until the end!

Don’t take much with you: all material is provided along the way.

We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and warm jacket.

HOW TO WIN POINTS YOUR ITINERARY

Following your itinerary It is detailed in next pages. You will have 4 indoor stops on the way, with 4 challenges to undertake.

Each Challenge will give you points, awarded by the Instructor / Chief of each activity.

Points depend on the result you provide (40%), photo callenges (30%), but also on: respecting timings (30%).

The final score and the winning team will only be revealed once all teams have completed their journey: you can't guess it before! IN CASE OF

In this roadbook, you have an itinerary to follow You can't skip a stop or change the order of the stops!

While going from one challenge to another, you will find hosts on the way (dressed in black with red scarves and cap). If any assistance is needed, reach out to them but don’t expect them to give up clues!

Timing is also important during this activity: arriving late at a Challenge will be penalised!

Be aware of your environment, observe well the surroundings while walking but please do not leave the indicated itinerary to search for objects or clues: They are always on the designated route. If you have missed a clue, you’re not allowed to come back to search for it again.

RULES FOR THE PHOTO CHALLENGE

This Challenge is to gain extra points but is only possible if you have enough time.

DO NOT arrive late to the next stop or leave the indicated itinerary for a picture: you will lose many more points than the ones gained with a photo!

• The photos are ALL to be taken with the same phone.

• Pictures are to be sent to the Whatsapp number hereunder, indicating the team number.

• Please contact the Whatsapp Chat indicating your team number on your way to the starting point.

• Please only send 1 picture for each challenge listed on the right side of this page: send us the best one! ��

• Any team photo that doesn't match the description OBVIOUSLY, will not count.

THE HISTORIC CENTER HEADING CHALLENGE 1

The hostess will lead the way until Plaza Catalunya, walking by Rambla de Catalunya.

ONCE IN PLAZA CATALUNYA, THE HOSTESS CAN SHOW YOU WHICH AVENUE IS THE RAMBLA BEFORE DEPARTING. YOU ARE NOW ON YOUR OWN!

START TO EARN SOME EXTRA POINTS!

A white marble sculpture (Artist: Josep Clarà) depicts a nude woman with an enigmatic face, hence its name “The Enigma”. It’s sitting in a style reminding “the Thinker” of Rodin, of whom Clarà was a well-known admirer.

Plaça de Catalunya, in the heart of Barcelona, is a bustling hub connecting the historic Gothic Quarter with the modern Eixample district. It’s known for its beautiful fountains, sculptures, and expansive open space, making it a popular meeting spot. As a gateway to Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gràcia, it's surrounded by shops, cafes, and cultural landmarks.

WALK DOWN THE FAMOUS RAMBLAS

• Send a picture of your team in front of the Canalete Fountain with a Barça Fan who will tell you all about it!

From this mosaic, you do not need to go much further down the Ramblas: 2 blocks down and then cross on your left to enter a hidden square… You’ve arrived to Plaza Reial.

From there, meet your hostess waiting for you beneath a special streetlamp, crafted by the genius Gaudí, to embark on your first challenge together…

• Send a picture of the stained-glass panels at the Entry of the Boqueria Market (you do not need to enter the market as it may be really busy and you’re on a tight timing)

• The first team arriving on the Miró Artwork down the Rambla will gain extra points, be as quick as you can but watch your feet not to miss it on the floor and send us a pic!

MUST BE THIRSTY NOW! IT’S TIME TO TAKE A TYPICALLY SPANISH DRINK! CHALLENGE ONE

Created by the renowned Catalan artist Joan Miró, it features abstract shapes in primary colors, symbolizing cosmic elements. Its placement on “La Rambla” reflects Miró’s desire to make art accessible to everyday life, blending the cosmic with the urban environment.

As a popular landmark, it also serves as a welcoming point for visitors to the city.

Once the Challenge is over, your host will leave you in Sant Jaume waiting for you—don’t be shy, engage in a conversation!

CONVERSATION WITH... JAUME THE CATALAN

Once you’re meeting with Jaume the Catalan concludes, he will show you the way down Carrer de Jaume I and then, Carrer de l’Argentería. Go down this street until the beautiful “Catedral Santa Maria del Mar”

GO AROUND THE CHURCH UNTIL YOU REACH THE CALLE MONTCADA

GO DOWN MONCADA STREET UNTIL THE NUMBER 20

They spent their own money, built it themselves, and it was only used by the people of the guilds. It was considered to be the Church of the Workers. Each chapel is dedicated to one specific guild. The construction was completed in just 54 years.The speed of the project was thanks, in large part, to the fundamental, collective work of those who made up the workforce: the area’s fishermen, artisans and residents, whom were assisted by the now legendary bastaixos (“porters“).

WITHIN THE BORN QUARTER

When exiting the Palace, turn left and keep going Calle Montcada until Carrer de la Barra de Ferro on your left. Once you’ve walked all this street down, you will cross Carrer Princesa to reach Carrer del Pou de la Cadena.

Continue along this street until you reach the Plaza de Llana on your right.

EARN SOME EXTRA POINTS!

You are in front of one of the oldest pharmacies in Barcelona. The first reference to this pharmacy dates back to 1857. Find the plaque honouring pharmacist Joaquim Cases and take a picture!

You’re in the perfect spot now to go to the end of Semolleres Street and to continue along Freixures Street

SANTA CATERINA MARKET

You are now walking along the Santa Catarina Market (you do not need to enter). Built in 1848 in the former Convent of Santa Catarina. Totally renovated in 2005, the market is an architectural marvel with its multicolored ceramics roof that makes it unique.

Once you're facing the Santa Caterina Market, find a photographer waiting for you to take a picture of the group! You can keep it as a souvenir…

TO REACH THE NEXT POINT, YOU HAVE ... 20 MINUTES, DON’T BE LATE!

ASK THE PHOTOGRAPHER WHERE THE STREET GENERAL ALVAREZ DE CASTRO IS.

But before heading there, you can earn some extra point in front of the market:

Look for a translation of “Kitchen” written in Catalan and send us a picture!

Take General Álvarez de Castro Street until the end. Once you reach the Cervantes School, turn right onto Carrer Sant Pere Més Baix. On your left, you’ll see Carrer de les Arenes de Sant Pere. Follow it all the way to Carrer de Sant Pere Mitjà

Turn left and continue until you reach the San Camilo Social Building (I know it’s a bit confusing—you’re in the old town with its many narrow streets!)

Across from it is Carrer del Bou de Sant Pere, where your next challenge is waiting for you. Look for the artist!

Exit to the right, and at the end of the street, you’ll reach a charming hat shop. Turn left and continue until you come across the beautiful Palau de la Música Catalana.

PALAU DE LA MÚSICA CATALANA

The Palau de la Música Catalana is an architectural gem of Art Nouveau and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The Concert Hall is a magnificent masterpiece, bringing together several decorative arts: sculpture, mosaic, stained glass, and ironwork.

Take this opportunity to also admire the sgraffito work on the red façade of the Casa de la Seda.

CASA DE LA SEDA

La Casa de la Seda (The House of Silk) is the only guild house in Barcelona that is still open to the public. This 18th-century Baroque beauty was once the home of the influential Guild of Silk Makers, one of the wealthiest merchant groups in the city. It was declared a National Cultural Heritage site in 1919. At first glance, the façade stands out with its beautiful sgraffito decoration.

Once you've enjoyed some delicious pintxos, go back to the Palau de la Musica. Expect a couple of challenges on your way back to the hotel!!

EARN SOME EXTRA POINTS!

Near the Palau de la Música, a peculiar professor will be waiting for you. It’s quiz time! How Spanish are you?

The professor will provide you with some further instructions. After crossing Via Laietana, you will encounter the façade featuring the "Walls of Eyes", created by sculptor Frederic Amat.

Carrer Comtal has a rich history dating back to medieval Barcelona. During the Middle Ages, it was part of the city’s commercial heart, connecting important trade routes and providing access to the Roman walls that once surrounded Barcelona. In its early days, Carrer Comtal was home to artisans, merchants, and craftsmen who played a vital role in the city’s economy.

Find on your way a ceramics representing a Bakery!

Once you’ve reached the end of the street, turn right on Avenida del Portal de l’Angel and continue until you reach Plaza Catalunya.

From there, keep going straight (you don’t need to walk through the center of Plaza Catalunya) and take the famous Passeig de Gràcia up to the hotel street.

As you enter Barcelona's most renowned avenue, take a moment to admire the special flooring, which features designs inspired by the works of the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí.

The pavement on Passeig de Gràcia is covered with unique hexagonal tiles called “panots,” designed by Antoni Gaudí.

If timing allows you to do so, search for some details on the nice modernist houses you have on the right side of the avenue…

Once you reach the intersection with Carrer de les Cortes Catalanes, the hotel will be on your left.
