Two Kentucky men have been fined nearly $31,000 and stripped of their hunting privileges in most of the country for 15 years after poaching two bull elk in Wyoming in 2014 while filming an episode of “Hunting in the Sticks” on the Pursuit Channel. A viewer reported that the men killed elk in the wrong hunting district. Said an investigator: “I believe the two defendants were driven to get kill-shot footage for the television show ...” (AP)

A dog walker in Berlin was lucky to escape injury from, yes, a flying coconut. He was walking March 1 when he heard a bang before a ball-shaped projectile flew past him, hitting a lamppost. Police were called and found a large, homemade cannon that used compressed air to shoot coconuts at high speeds. A 23-year-old man explained that he had helped to build the cannon for an art project and wanted to test it. Police impounded it. (AP)

The new school scheduled to open soon in Orange County, Fla., is named Innovation Park Middle School. Oops. Parents want a new name, concerned that the students will be ridiculed because of the school’s acronym. “They don’t want to go to a school and wear a red shirt with the letters IPMS across the shirt for athletics, for academic competitions,” parent Christal Feldman told WKMG-TV.
