rrawaddy or Ayeyarwaddy River, is the principal river of Myanmar, which runs through the central Myanmar and pours out the Andaman sea. Being Myanmar’s most important commer cial waterway, it stretches about 1,350 miles (2,170 km) across the country. The name "Irrawaddy" is an English corruption of local name Ayeyarwaddy Myit, which some scholars translate as "river that brings blessings to the people"(National Geographic). Its valley has long formed the historical, cultural, and economic heartland of Myanmar. For decades of political and economical unsettlement, the Ayeyarwady is still faithful to the Burmese people. They still wash, drink, travel on the river; and the river, being inseparable from their living and spirituality, is their hope. During the ride, may you take some short stops to explore rural villages from a bygone era, see saffron-robed monks go about their daily rituals, and marvel at thousands of shrines and pagodas which soar out of the lush jungle.

HA LONG BAY Vietnam Ha Long Bay, located in the Gulf of Tonkin, within Quang Ninh Province, in the northeast of Vietnam. Covering a wide area, Ha Long Bay has over 1600 islands and islets, most of which are uninhabited and unaffected by humans. The name "Ha Long" means "Descending Dragons� is based on a folklore that a dragon helped the local defend the invaders by petrifying its body as the barrier in front of the mainland. Here, towering limestone pillars and tiny islets topped by forest rise from the emerald water. Designated a World Heritage site in 1994, Halong Bay's spectacular scatter of islands, dotted with grottoes, is a vision of ethereal beauty and, unsurprisingly, northern Vietnam's number one tourism hub. It flows from north to south through the nation’s fertile central plain for more than 365 km to the Gulf of Thailand. The Chao Phraya River is also known as the River of Kings. While touring Myanmar, many tourists discover the delights of Burmese tea leaf salad, known locally as “Lahpet thoke.” Enjoyed as a snack or light lunch or served to house guests or as the last course of a meal, this salad features a rich amalgam of textures and flavors, and can be easily customized to your tastes. Lahpet thoke plays an important role in Burmese culture, and there are some fanciful myths and legends surrounding it. In ancient times, it was exchanged as a peace offering between the rulers of kingdoms at war. Today, it is savored for its tangy taste and the delectable crunch of each bite, and retains its symbolism of goodwill and welcome. Here is how you can make your own Burmese tea salad at home! If you want, you can vary some of the ingredients to fit your taste. Make sure you plan this meal a couple of days in advance (you will need them).

INGREDIENTS 1 cup of dried green tea leaves 1 cup of green cabbage or kale, chopped ½ cup of chopped green onions ½ cup of chopped cilantro 3 tablespoons of peanut oil 3 tablespoons of roasted soybeans 3 tablespoons of roasted pumpkin seeds 2 tablespoons of chopped ginger 2 tablespoons of roasted chopped peanuts
2 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds 1 tablespoon garlic paste 1 garlic head, sliced Garlic oil 1 teaspoon of fish sauce Lime juice Lime slices Salt to taste Optional: tomato wedges, green chili peppers, or dried shrimp, soaked and drained
DIRECTIONS Ferment Your Tea Leaves Before you can make your salad, you need to ferment your tea leaves. You can do so by following these steps: 1. Start by pouring four cups of hot water over your dried tea leaves. 2. Stir them up, and then let them soak for around 10 minutes. The leaves will expand and get soft. 3. Drain the leaves thoroughly, squeezing them if necessary. 4. Remove tough bits you do not want to eat. 5. Now soak the tea leaves in lukewarm water. Mash them down with your hands a bit. 6. Drain them thoroughly once again. 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6. 8. Now put the leaves in cold water and let them soak anywhere from 1 hour to overnight. The longer the leaves soak in the cold water, the less bitter they will be. 8. Drain the leaves again and squeeze them, and you are finished with the fermentation process!

Chop up the tea leaves. Mix them with the kale/cabbage, cilantro, and green onions. Mix in the chopped ginger, the garlic paste, the lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Add any optional ingredients (like the chili peppers). Cover the salad and put it in a cool, dark place to ferment for around two days. Transfer the salad to the fridge. Food Experiences
PREPARE THE ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS 1. Toast the sesame seeds over medium heat. Let them cool on a plate. 2. Add the peanut oil to the pan and fry up the sliced garlic. Move the garlic to a plate when it achieves a golden color. 3. Reserve the garlic-flavored peanut oil. You will use it in the next step. 4. Next, mix the peanut oil in with the fermented tea leaves, a dash of fish sauce, and some lime juice along with salt to taste. 5. Get a large platter and add the ingredients separately in small piles. So the ingredients you mixed in step 4 will be in one pile, the sesame seeds will be in another, and so will the chopped peanuts, soybeans, and any other crunchy ingredients you have opted for. 6. Serve your salad! This recipe should make enough for six. Each person can take as much as they want from each pile, mixing their salad in their own bowls to their liking. It takes time, planning and effort to prepare Burmese Tea Salad, but it is well worth it to enjoy the delicious flavors of Myanmar at home and share them with friends and family!

WHY ARE HOUSES IN VIETNAM painted yellow? Indeed, travellers may find quite a number of old butter-yellow buildings with red roofs and green shutters in Vietnam. Hoi An is even called the Yellow City by BBC, because its old town are covered with a vibrant sunlight color. So, why is yellow in particularly? There are 3 main reasons.

ARCHITECTURAL AESTHETICITY Vietnam was a site to demonstrated French power in the Orient so French architectural styles were employed for colonial buildings in French-held Vietnam to express Indochina Governor’s "overwhelming passion to construct a colonial capital that would reflect the glory of France". So the inhabitants are tend to paint their houses yellow to help the buildings avoid being overheated. Plus, moss often grow in buildings due to humidity and high amount of rain, yellow goes well with moss green to not create a disturbing sight for the building. Nowadays, not only old houses are yellow, but newly-built houses are also colored yellow for this reasons.
3. SYMBOLISM Yellow symbolize royalty and superiority in Vietnam. Especially in imperialism period, slightly dark yellow is only allowed for the king’s clothes and belongings. What’s more is that in Vietnamese common belief, the house is not just a shelter, but also an indicator for their success. If one wants to build a house, that person will have to ask the shaman when to do it, where the gate should be, which direction the house should face, etc. so that the house and its owner can match and create positive energy. By painting the house yellow, the owners imply the wish that they can achieve prosperity.

WHAT IS BAD ABOUT LACKING HUMIDITY? Knowledge #1: all flights have climate-control air conditioned. Because when they flight over 12,000 kilometers above the ground, the surrounding go below 0 celsius degree, oxygen is extremely low and the pressure is too high for human to survive. So we have to be canned inside a warm and breathable box of metal. Knowledge #2: the air in the cabin is generated from the engine air, which contains heat and would be cooled down before it is released in low pressure for us to breath normally. The downside is the plane has to lower the moisture in the air to quickly cool it off. Normal humidity in non-air-conditioned room are around 30 – 65%. But, inside of a plane it often drops to 10% and that equals to a desert! You are going to get drier than a prune. It only takes a loss off 1-2% of your body’s ideal water content to cause dehydration. That’s when you start to get itchy nose, hurtful breathe, thirsty, low blood pressure, stomach ache, flaky skin and lips, etc. The longer the dehydration, the worse symptoms that come. 50

HOW TO STAY FRESH Luckily, avoiding dehydration is easy. Here are some simple long flight tips for your next flight:
1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER The most obvious and simplest thing you can do is to drink water. But water doesn’t mean any liquid. Stay away from alcohol and caffeine or carbonated drinks, which are diuretic and will accelerate dehydration. Drinking litres of water in one sip is too extreme and actually harm your body. The proper way is to drink little and often. Before you get on board, carry a bottle of water along because although you can ask for water from the flight attendants but it’s more convenient to have your own supply just in case they are busy.
2. BRING EYE DROPS WITH YOU One of the effects of dehydration is tired and irritated eyes. Rubbing your eyes then will only compound the problem. That’s when your belonging eye drops come to use. Plus, they are especially useful for those that wear contact lenses.
