Off to Osmington! In a year with so much disruption and such little chance to be together outside of school, the Upper Two residential to Osmington Bay was just what the pupils needed. by

rriving just in time for lunch on Friday 2 July, the excited group of 68 junior school pupils were raring to go and ready for the challenges ahead of them. Friday saw the pupils take part in buggy building and archery, as well as climbing, which provided them with the first opportunity to test their nerves at height. We enjoyed a campfire in the evening with lots of fun and games before sharing highlights of their time at the junior school in a lovely and intimate celebration. Saturday began far earlier than the teachers thought possible but provided some fantastic and challenging activities such as: keelboat sailing, abseiling, Jacob’s Ladder and the year group
favourite – the giant swing! On Sunday, more sailing, archery, Jacob’s Ladder and giant swing were enjoyed with enthusiasm, despite the drizzle. When reflecting on the weekend, Annabel Jenner said: “The activities we enjoyed were brilliant; they were all so
different but equally as enjoyable. My favourite was keelboat sailing as we were all very hands on with the controls and the sails.” Both teachers and PGL staff were incredibly impressed by the pupils, who demonstrated many of the core values we pride ourselves on at Exeter School. Upon leaving, the tired but happy faces were a reflection of the fun had by all involved, with Monty Houghton remarking: “This was the best residential ever. The giant swing was so exhilarating – it was probably everyone’s favourite activity!” It was a truly memorable weekend for all involved and was the perfect way to end their time at Exeter Junior School.
