THEO POWER

STAFF ART SHOW

Every year staff are invited to submit work based on a theme; last year’s theme was to decorate a polystyrene head using any medium and the outcomes were varied and impressive.

POWERFUL THEMES
Lower Sixth Form pupils studying A Level art and design have recently produced carefully rendered biro studies as part of their coursework on the theme of ‘Communication’ reflecting the global protests in the summer of 2020. Head of Art, Alison Escott, said “Their technical approach has been inspired by the artist Mark Powell and their striking compositions convey a powerful and evocative message about this important global issue.”

TEAMING WITH CREATIVITY
This year’s ‘Big Draw’ challenge was intended to explore the relationship between people and our environments. Thanks to Covid-19, our nation has drunk an extra 111 million cups of tea and junior and senior school pupils have taken advantage of this waste by creating art out of discarded tea bags. This installation of tea paintings was created to reflect on the range of positives that helped pupils and families get through the challenges of the first national lockdown.
