I am delighted to welcome you to The Excelsior Academy. The Excelsior Academy is an exceptional learning environment with a real community spirit.
We are a school with enormous strengths. Through the continuous hard work and cooperation of staff, students, and parents we aim for you to leave The Excelsior Academy as a well-educated, knowledgeable, confident and well-rounded individual.
Starting secondary school can be daunting and I am sure that many of you will be feeling a little anxious but I want to assure you that me and my team of fantastic teachers and staff will make sure that your journey with us begins in the best possible way.

Our school day starts at 8:20am sharp. This is when all students should be in school and at line up. Arriving after this time will incur a ‘late’ sanction. If you wish to be in school earlier than this, you are welcome to join us at our free breakfast club from 7:30am8:15am where a selection of cereals, toast and fruit will be available.
You will be given your full subject timetable when you join us in September, but it is useful to get a feel for what your day will look like, so that you can spend some time with your family planning how you will ensure that you get to school on time in the morning and how you will get home safely at the end of the day. Our aim is to get you into excellent habits for your time in school.
Friday afternoons are all about enrichment activities and students are expected to get involved in one or more of the exciting range of activities on offer. A full list will be provided to you so that you can make your choices early to avoid disappointment.

At The Excelsior Academy you will study a wide range of subjects that will ensure you experience a broad and balanced curriculum. You will be able to build on the knowledge and skills that you already have to equip you for your journey beyond school.

From your very first day, you will be expected to adhere to our behaviour expectations first time, every time.

Our high expectations extend to every aspect of life in school. This includes how you conduct yourself when not in lessons and when travelling to and from school, as well as when you are representing the school on an educational visit or other activity outside of school. You will be expected to behave politely, calmly and respectfully at all times, looking after your school environment and wearing your uniform with pride.

We expect students to to be ready to fully participate in PE lessons at all times of the year, to be safe and to look smart. It is, therefore, important for you to be familiar with the PE kit and remember to bring it into school on days when you have PE on your timetable.
