Working Together

Open Enrollment November 1 to 14

Welcome to the 2023 Benefits Open Enrollment!

Now more than ever, with this difficult economy and the need to recruit and retain staff at the forefront, Excela Health remains focused on maintaining a market competitive benefit package with affordable premium cost sharing. We understand that employees across the health system may have different medical and wellness needs, therefore, we have crafted a complete benefit package of core and voluntary plans to meet the needs of our employee population. This year there are no plan benefit changes. However, employee contributions on the medical plans are increasing slightly at (3.5%) across the three salary tiers. For most employees, this increase ranges from $2-$7 additional premium per pay depending on salary tier and coverage level chosen.

Key Reminders:

Open enrollment is your opportunity to review your benefit options and make important decisions for yourself and your covered dependents. All employees must complete the online Open Enrollment through the UKG Portal for 2023, even if you are waiving benefits or keeping the same benefits. If you do not complete the Open Enrollment in UKG, you will not have benefit coverage for January 1, 2023.

Please take time to carefully review the updates in this Working Together Online Newsletter and visit the Excela Health Intranet, Benefits/My HR. Our 2023 Employee Benefit Guide has been updated with our benefit offerings, eligibility and rate information.

Please note: New Plan ID cards will only be sent to employees enrolling in coverages for the first time and those changing medical carriers. Dependents will only receive new medical cards when added for the first time. Otherwise, if you or a dependent are in need of a new card, you can request/print one by calling the carrier directly at the number on the back of your card or logging into the carrier’s web page.

Any changes made during Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2023.

REVIEW OR UPDATE YOUR BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONS WITH FIDELITY

Did you know almost 50% of Excela Health employees have NOT named a beneficiary to their Fidelity 403(b) or 401(k) account? Are you one of these at risk?

Why is it important to name a beneficiary?

As a reminder, your beneficiaries are separate from your Life Insurance Program. It is important to update your information for all accounts and review your designations whenever you experience a life event (marriage, divorce, death, or birth) or simply wish to change an existing beneficiary.

Use a simple, online process—Fidelity NetBenefits®, www.NetBenefits.com I 800-343-0860

For Legacy Vendor 403(b) plans with Brighthouse, Metlife, Nationwide and Lincoln, as well as the Defined Benefit Pension Plans (frozen 2010) please contact the Excela Benefits Department at benefits@excelahealth.org or 724-689-1922 for a paper beneficiary form.

Caring for the Community

Clyde grew up in Derry, Pennsylvania and joined the U.S. Navy in 1974. Throughout his twenty years there, he was active and achieved the rank of E-8 Sr. Chief Petty Officer. In 1994 he started his second career with Westinghouse, where he worked until retirement in 2018. After a few years of retirement he found himself in his family doctor’s office with a scale that was reading dangerously close to three hundred pounds.

His doctor referred him to the Well-Being Center for guidance and support to get on the right track. His mainstay supports have been registered dietitian Aleks and exercise and wellness specialist, Carolyn. Aleks has helped him to understand his nutritional choices and choose healthier options. New and challenging workouts have kept Clyde engaged and excited to workout with Carolyn – and to continue working out on his own.

After losing nearly 100 pounds with the help of his Well-Being Center support team, his only regret is that he didn’t start sooner! If you would like to speak to someone at the Well-Being Center regarding your health challenges, please call 724-830-8568.

WELLNESS YEAR 2022

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the Wellness year begin and end?

The Wellness year is October 5 to September 30. New hires/new enrollees hold a different deadline for their first year depending upon when they were hired. REMEMBER if you AND your spouse are covered under medical then BOTH must complete Wellness program each year.

Do I need to get a biometric screening?

We highly encourage all of our employees to participate in the FREE biometric screening every wellness year. Not only can our screenings give you a health “snapshot”, but you also have the possibility to earn more than 200 wellness points! The earlier in the wellness year you complete a screening the more points you earn. REMEMBER the deadline to receive an onsite biometric screening is August 31!

What if I miss the August 31st screening deadline or cannot attend scheduled screening dates?

We have so many options available to you to complete a screening and earn wellness badges/points even if you do not make it to our WBC biometric screenings. Patrick’s Wellness words

Patrick’s Wellness words of encouragement to Excela Health

Hello to all of our Excela Health friends!

Another wellness year has come and gone and all of us at the Well-Being Center cannot be more pleased with your dedication, trust, and participation. In the past few years we have seen a worldwide pandemic that has changed how we live and work, experienced a global workforce shortage, and are now facing a record high inflation rate, causing stress and anxiety for many. There is no doubt that we have all felt the crunch, but the human spirit tells us to keep moving, put one foot in front of the other and we will persevere

While we cannot control every gut punch the world delivers, with the Well-Being Center in your corner you can evolve your skills to handle, block, and evade many of those punches.

Our wellness program has evolved to meet the needs of our Excela Health family to address issues including managing stress, from the Employee Assistance Program to the advancements in the Unplug and Recharge program. Nutrition counseling and exercise programs can be attended virtually with little or no cost to employees or family. We also tapped into the amazing world of music therapy being offered throughout the organization and received great feedback from attendees!

We know we can’t control all inflation and cost increases, but we can offer savings to our employees and their families who complete the wellness program every year. Who doesn’t want to save an average of $600 per year on medical insurance premiums!?

I know that we cannot solve all the problems in the world, but we do work to provide you with tools to handle everything that is thrown your way. Remember we are in your corner!

We truly thank you all for making this another incredible wellness year and we promise to work at the highest level to continue providing quality wellness programs and education.
