Empowerment Through Well-Being

Fall 2020

Colleagues of Excela Health, The 2020 Wellness Year presented obstacles that challenged our physical, social, spiritual, and financial wellness. During these challenges, employees stepped up by assisting in departments other than their own and taking on responsibilities that were beyond their experience. At home our life looked different as well with family reunions turned into video conferences, vacations turned into staycations and a night out into a night in. Never before has the word ‘stress’ been more powerful and real. Our goal at the Well-Being Center is to make Wellness Year 2021 as low-stress as possible. We are including more opportunities to complete your biometric screening, simplifying badge claiming to complete your wellness, and enhancing stress management seminars and webinars with easier access. For more than 15 years the Well-Being Center has been committed to the health and wellness of the entire Excela Health family. It is our vision to empower an individual with the personal knowledge and skills to enhance their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. We are here for you with a smile and an elbow bump. We are dedicated to your well-being. We are all Excela Health! Patrick C. Martin, MS Manager, Well-Being Center

WELLNESS YEAR 2021

Frequently Asked Questions How do I sign up for a biometric screening? All appointments can be scheduled through the Active Data Exchange calendar on the main intranet page. Click the date and time you desire for an appointment and click ‘register’. If there is no appointment available at that time simply check another time of the same date. If the ‘register’ tab is highlighted yellow then there is availability at that time.

Do I need an appointment for a biometric screening?

What is the new badge claiming with Henderson Brothers? The new partnership allows badges to be claimed automatically when medical claims are presented to medical insurance. For instance, when you get a preventative mammogram or a yearly wellness exam medical claims are matched with your wellness account and will upload the badge for you.

Will my badges from medical claims be uploaded to my wellness right away? Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of insurance companies and medical claims can take up to 2 months to be reported.

If my badges are uploaded up to 2 months later how will I get credit for my exams? Since the reporting takes time we have created a new time frame for medical claims. Receive your preventative exams, vaccine, etc. between July 1 and June 30 (our fiscal year) then we will make sure your badges are uploaded for the current wellness year. Get an exam, test, or vaccination after June 30? No problem you will receive the badge and points on the next wellness year beginning in October!

When does the wellness year begin and end? The wellness year is October 1 through September 30. New hires hold a different deadline for their first year depending upon when they were hired. Biometric screening deadline is August 31. If unsure of your new hire deadline please contact Benefits at 724-689-1945.

Yes, you do need an appointment for a biometric screening. We want to get everybody screened each year, but remember we have more than 5000 people that need to be screened and appointments drastically help our Well-Being staff stay on task and on time. From October 2020 through September 2021 there are more than 7000 appointments available. Do not wait until the last minute. Receive 50 extra points if you get a screening done before March!

How do I sign up for group exercise, Employee Wellness Gyms or personal training? Our group exercise classes have now expanded to on site and virtual! Go the the Well-Being Center Intranet page or email us at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org. For our Employee Wellness Gym membership and personal training options follow the link to our website and fill out the form to get started or contact us at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org

How do I see a dietitian? All you need to do is contact our Well-Being Center at 724-830-8568 or email us at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org. Remember employees, spouses, and dependents are eligible for nutritional counseling through our Well-Being Center dietitians. Also don’t forget you earn a 25-point badge for nutritional counseling with a Well-Being Center dietician.

How do I sign up for Unplug & Recharge? We now want you to build resiliency and manage stress better with our weekly emails. Send a request to wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org. Don’t forget two 10-point badges will be awarded after receiving them for two weeks.
