This summer Dawn Davoli, Registered Dietitian, had the opportunity represent Excela Health at Camp Focus. Camp Focus is a camp designed for students who benefit from school-based therapy from Excela Health Behavioral Health Services. The summer program helps to maintain continuity between school years. Dawn’s goal is to provide information leading to a healthier lifestyle. One way to accomplish this is by reducing the amount of sugar a person consumes. She helps the kids understand the amount of sugar in some of their favorite drinks. For example, all in attendance were shocked to learn that a sweet tea from McDonalds has nearly as much sugar as a Mountain Dew. In the end, all of the students received a water bottle to encourage them to make the choice to drink more water in lieu of sugary drinks.
Nobody likes a Bully As students return to class, anxiety about bullies begins for many students and parents. Unfortunately, bullies are a fact of life. But it is not only a problem on the playground anymore. Bullying can follow your kids home and online. Washington EAP Services is here to help with information and resources to help tame the bully in your child’s life.
