VALA Gallery Hosts an Evening of Amazing Talent to Raise Awareness for Multiple Sclerosis On Friday October 1st, VALA gallery in Mission, KS, will join forces with the MS Society on order to raise awareness about the disease and bring hope to others who are living with it. Visual artist Jean Van Harlingen and singer/ songwriter Beth Scalet will bring a combined powerhouse of talent to the gallery. Both artists are living with the disease but refuse to let it define them. Their goal for the night is to provide living proof that having a diagnosis does not end your life or what you love to do.
“Futuristic Quest” A show highlighting Jean’s recent interest in digital art and media is a natural progression of her earlier works. This new experiment in digital art is unique in that these pieces are completely digital in origin and do not exist in any other form of media. Opening starts @ 6:30 pm. Music provided by Beth Scalet and Kathryn Lorenzen. Ten percent of concert and show profits go directly to the MS Society.
What If Cannabis Cured Cancer? Film Viewing at Two KC Locations The KC division of NORML (National Organizations for the Reform of Marijuana Laws brings two showings of the film What If Cannabis Cured Cancer? to Kansas City in October. The video runs one hour, followed by an hour of Q&A and discussion. All Souls Universalist Unitarian Church, 4501 Walnut St, Kansas
