Publisher’s Letter... Dear Friend:

I watched a video recently of my three-year-old grandson, Andrew, wildly and unabashedly dancing— head pumping up and down, eyes closed, pure joy on his face. To me, when we can release fear, worry, or self -consciousness about what others might think and just let go, that is joy expressed, the theme for this issue. As I’ve gotten older, I catch myself watching closely, making sure I don’t get “out of control.” I’ve tried to be more calm, more responsible, not be silly…in public at least. And I’m sorry for my misconceived idea that to be grown up means to let go of the joy children so naturally express. When I was younger, play time was creative. I made up songs, drew in the dirt with a stick, built a fort out of a sheet and used creativity in a myriad of other ways to feel and express joy. And while I try to act proper in public, in private I still experience joy through creative expression. While gardening, ‘hooping, and yes even dancing like my grandson, I find myself completely immersed in the moment and out of my “responsible” head for just a bit. And I feel the pure joy that is expressed by living authentically. This past year I’ve stepped even farther outside my box and found the joy of travel, adventure and meeting new people while discovering their cultures. I’ve found my most alive self on these trips. And although fearful at times, I am alternately high from these life-altering moments. My wish is that we can all be like children and express shameless joy publicly—no matter what others think—and relish in our innate freedom to cherish these moments. What better way to express joyful living than through conscious-living events? This special issue has a center pullout section, a Summer/Fall Events, to save and reference. Inside the Summer/Fall Events Guide is the program for the upcoming Evolving Magazine Conscious Living Festival on July 24 at Unity Temple on the Plaza. The day is filled with holistic health and wellness vendors, hourly workshops, and live entertainment on the patio outdoors. It’s sure to be a Joy-filled day. I hope you’ll join us.

Slowing the Epidemic of Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Physical Disorders Do you feel like physical illness, depression, anxiety, or addiction have hijacked your life? Mental and emotional disorders impact every part of society— and disrupt life for even the most spiritually devout, intelligent, and respected people. Unfortunately, many who suffer from these devastating disorders seek healing through costly, and sometimes harmful, counseling and medications—measures which may bring temporary relief, but do not fully correct the underlying problem. In Silent Takeover: How the Body Hijacks the Mind, Jacquelyn Sheppard exposes the vital, connection between your body, mind, and spirit—and gives you practical tools to:  Understand the connection between your mind and body and discover root causes for such illnesses as depression, addiction, bipolar disorder, OCD, and other physical and mental illnesses.  Identify the life cycles of each disorder —prenatal, childhood, adolescence and adulthood—so you can overcome each cycle using the right tools.  Gain practical “know-how” to effectively combat these disorders through life-giving steps of health transformation. Don’t allow your past determine your future! Released in June from Destiny

Author Andries exposes the myth of multitasking, the root causes of Attention Deficit Disorder, and the role genetic memory plays in your life. He offers a step-by-step process to change your reality, overcome habits and limitations, and deal with difficult people. Some studies once suggested that we use only 10% of the capacity of our minds. Today that estimate has been revised to about 23% of the power that lies within. Imagine what more can be done with all of that as yet unrealized potential. Read this book and uncover what is standing in your way and move into a more full realization of who you are! Ways You Can Create Joy

T

he morning after my son’s wedding, I arose at dawn to walk in the woods. I wound my way deep into the forest, loving the beauty as the sun rose. Critters scattered here and there, and birds sang their music. The colors were more rich and the trees more majestic. How my heart burst with joy and gratitude. I thanked the universe for this magical time. The rising sun beckoned me home to finish preparations for the day-after wedding breakfast. An open house was planned with as many as l00 guests. They came in waves, not too crowded. I was calm. My good friend helped. We welcomed new friends and old to enjoy our time together. And I wonder why happiness and joy is so elusive. Some days, happiness and joy are abundant and gratitude fills our hearts. Yet, some days, worry and fear replace it. Is there a payoff? Maybe being “unhappy” gets more attention? Maybe a bad mood is a comfort zone? Makes me think of Abe Lincoln who said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” It’s a fact we feel happier when our needs are met. Wikipedia summarizes Abraham Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs” (very condensed here): Survival: air, water, and food, clothing and shelter. Personal security including financial security and health and well-being. Love and belonging: friendships, family, and acceptance within social circles. Esteem for us all is the need to feel respected and own self-respect. Selfactualization is included, for example, the need to be a good parent or boss. Self-transcendence involves creating goals outside oneself in altruism and spirituality. Our publisher, Jill Dutton, is a prime example of this. It feels to me that self-love, selfesteem, and self-value open the gateways to happiness and joy. In talking with a good friend, we discussed how esteem and self-value and self-worth seem to ebb and flow. Indeed, some days we feel good

BY SUZETTE SCHOLTES

about ourselves, and other days, the inner critic goes haywire with noise. Author of the book, Upward Spiral, Alex Korb, writes it is important to be “sappy” such as loving your pup or cat or hugging a lot. Optimism is a building block of joy. I know many optimistic folks, and I hear and see many pessimistic folks who I try to cheer up with a warm greeting and a smile. Love and support from loved ones makes us happy. Yesterday, my sister helped me watch the grandkids. We created a fun-filled day with activities, outside fun, and good food. It helps us all to feel “in charge” of our lives. We need meaningful work. Many enjoy volunteering their time to worthy causes. It helps to find “balance” of quiet time, our exercise time, and good sleep. Relationships tend to prosper by talking and sharing and caring and listening and supporting one another. It has been proven that couples do not remember why they “fight” but how they were feeling during the disagreement both before and after. Last, if you are reading this on the internet, it is reported that long periods on the internet lowers life satisfaction. Maybe it’s time to log off and go outside to breathe deep and enjoy the sun or moon or stars?

“It feels to me that self-love, selfesteem, and selfvalue open the gateways to happiness and joy.”

isa Bledsoe is a Scoby Master. The busy wife and mother is the epitome of an entrepreneur dedicated to mastering the art of blending an organic, probiotic beverage known as kombucha. “It all began as a hobby then spilled over into business called Tea-Biotics Artisan Kombucha,” she says. Intrigued by the process which begins with the scoby or starter composed of a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, the infusion is combined with black tea, a bit of organic sugar, filtered water and fresh juice. The entire concoction ferments in 30 days or so. The results become kombucha, a healthy, effervescent brew that most people find delightful with the first swig. Tea-Biotics passion is to brew locally the best raw kombucha on the market. Bledsoe’s mission is straightforward, “Our unique culture of bacteria and yeast gives our kombucha a flavor profile unlike any other. Flavors vary from traditional to unconventional; it is our mission to create raw kombucha that is defined by its complexity as well as its deliciousness that aids in good health. We are passionate about organic ingredients, sustainability, the environment, and our community! We strive to make our planet a better place to live through positive health and living consciousness.” Her ‘laboratory’ is a 2,000 squarefoot facility based in Lenexa where stainless steel tanks ferment with Bledsoe’s healthy potion. She’s learned to be patient where, over the next month, the tea will ripen and flavors will be added. Bledsoe produces 2,000 gallons of kombucha per month with exciting and often unexpected flavors from Root Beer, Peach, and Blueberry, to Key Lime and Lavender. Since she’s a regular vendor at the weekly Overland Park Farmer’s market,

“A tasting is what most people who are unfamiliar with kombucha want first. Many flavors are seasonal and there are always new profiles to try,” says Bledsoe who loves to watch the expression on a customer’s face as she hands an ounce or two of the refreshingly fizzy tea. Momentary skepticism by some instantly turns to thumbs-up followed by a request for an icy cup or bottle of the tea. “Not only is it a digestive aid but kombucha is a perfect alternative for people looking to promote an alkaline environment in the body,” she adds. According to Bledsoe, the list below touting kombucha’s attributes is enough to turn most people into regular sippers.  Aids digestion and weight loss  Boosts energy  Decreases anxiety and depression, increases mental clarity  Cleansing and detoxifying Along with the help of Bledsoe’s husband, Ed, her daughter Alexis and partners, Sally Stokesberry, and Mallory Price , the busy Scoby Master is in high gear, marketing her kombucha in a variety of retail establishments including: Whole Foods markets, The Brew Gallery and Bulk-It to name a few. At $3 for 16 ounces, Tea-Biotics Kombucha is quite a bargain. Stop by the Overland Park Farmer’s Market and say hi and ask for a swig! Love Wins: Equal Dignity in the Eyes of the Law

t is certain that times are ‘a changin’, especially the attitudes in this country towards gay marriage. When one of the first legal cases for gay marriage was made in 1970, about seventy percent thought gay marriage was ‘always wrong’ and only ten percent thought it was ‘not wrong at all.’ The latest Pew Survey tells us that fifty-eight percent favor gay marriage and thirty-seven percent oppose it. Looking at age groups today, eighty-one percent of millenials (1829) support gay marriage. The numbers go down as we look at older age groups. However, even those numbers have changed favorably. We just celebrated the one-year anniversary, June 26, 2015, of the Supreme Court’s decision-making same-sex marriage legal nationwide. This, for me, and many others, is a cause for great joy. My partner and I celebrated by marrying each other in late June feted by over ninety of our friends and family. It has made me think of my personal forty-year journey as a gay person and, more profoundly, the long public legal journey for many gay and lesbian couples. Roberta Kaplan with Lisa Dickey chronicles one of the most moving stories in Then Comes Marriage: United States v. Windsor and the Defeat of DOMA. The love story of Edie Windsor and Thea Spyer is rare and

beautiful. They first met in the early 60’s, had an off and on relationship until 1967 when Edie proposed to Thea giving her a diamond brooch. This was to be a forty-year engagement. They began their relationship at a time when being gay or lesbian was not recognized or affirmed socially or legally. Edie was a mostly self-taught computer program genius working in the early stages of computer development. Thea became a Clinical Psychologist and saw patients in their apartment in New York. About ten years after they began their life together Thea began having symptoms, later diagnosed as Multiple Sclerosis. Over the next thirty years she became more physically debilitated, eventually becoming a quadriplegic. Edie retired in 1974 and spent a lot of her time taking care of Thea, who continued to see patients. They had a sign on their refrigerator that said, “Don’t Postpone Joy” and they lived that motto. They loved dancing and continued to do so even when Thea was confined to a wheelchair. As Thea’s health was deteriorating, they knew they wanted to be married. With great difficulty and much planning they traveled to Toronto to be married. The presiding judge said, “You have come to know and love each other, you have found joy and meaning together, and you have chosen to live

your lives together.” Their love had finally been socially and legally affirmed! Two years later in April of 2009, Thea died peacefully. It was then that Edie’s legal and financial problems began as she was hit with a huge estate tax, which made a financial hardship for her. It was at this time that Roberta Kaplan, an attorney and her firm, took the case to represent Edie. Through many courts battles, strategizing with persistence, on June 26, 2013, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was declared unconstitutional. Married gay couples now had protection and recognition under federal law. This was the next stepping-stone to the case of Obergefell v. Hodges, the multiple cases in which gay and Lesbian Americans argued that the U.S. Constitution guaranteed them a right to marriage. On June 26, 2015, same-sex marriage was declared legal nationwide. Change comes through courage and determination and in the case of Thea and Edie, through great love and indomitable joy. Jude LaClaire, Ph.D., LCPC, is a counselor, educator and author. Finding Happiness All Around You and in the Palms of Your Hands BY CINDY MCKEAN

ave you ever found yourself in a situation where your life has dramatically changed? Whether the changes are due to internal or external circumstances, you may be able to find comfort in the fact that each change is an adaptation to the circumstances around you and each adaptation is an evolution towards the ability to find greater joy in your life. Uncertainty about the future is often a source of anxiety for many people. By simply having an idea of what to expect next, we can find confidence and strength to move forward. What dictates the level of joy you can experience depends on how you react to your surroundings. Your reaction might not be typical or expected, but you can definitely get a very bighead start just by looking at the sky above you or into the palm of your hands! Palms are read as a reflection of the human figure and are seen as a microcosm within the complexities of the cosmos (astrology), as the macrocosm.

Although astrology and palmistry have roots from the same source, they both provide much different information that can help you find, create, and maintain joy. In astrology, [the study of the celestial bodies and how they affect you and the affairs of the natural world], we are “geotagged” by the cosmos when we are born. The snapshot of the sky at the time you are born is what becomes your Natal Chart. It is your unique astrological signature. When an astrologer reads your chart, he or she will be able to discern your character, patterns and themes in your life, areas where you'll have difficulties, and behaviors that come naturally to you. Even though you may be inclined towards certain things, how you express those inclinations are a matter of free will. For example, you may have astrological indications of someone who would be prone to distractions. With that inclination, you can become a person who never gets anything done which could be a

constant source of frustration, or you can react to distractions differently allowing them to guide you towards being a superb multitasker allowing you to gain a sense of fulfillment. Despite being geo-tagged, just as the planets in the sky change positions, you too will find shifts of being. This is the process of evolving. We find a way to adapt in accordance to our surroundings, often striving towards happiness with our evolution. In palmistry, [the study of the lines and markings on your palms], you can get an indication of what to expect in the future based on your current state. Even though your fingerprints never change, everything else, such as the lines and markings, can and often does change. Think of it as being similar to a blood test. A specific lab result today doesn't mean that it will be that way the rest of your life. Your dominant hand (the hand you use more often) indicates what you have made of your life while your recessive hand indicates the life you were meant to live. You will be amazed at how your hands compare to each other. If they're both the same, you're living the life you're meant to live. If you see that one is very different from the other, you will be able to take a look back at your life and

remember when and how you took control of your path. Being armed with that knowledge is extremely empowering! While reaching your destination is a beautiful reward, your journey on the way there is full of blessings. A little bit of knowledge to guide you towards your personal happiness can make everything much more bearable. Your renewed perspective of what you have accomplished so far will provide you with plenty of motivation, and ultimately, joy. Sometimes all you need to do is look up for guidance and remember that your fate is in your hands!

Finding Your Joy When You Feel Lost BY DIANE SODDERS

Image licensed by Ingram Images

I

woke up Thanksgiving Day wanting to die. I pondered suicide but didn’t want the memory of my death to haunt those I still had left on that day. I knew all too well what that was like. November 18, Dad. May 7, Aunt. September 12, Mom. April 8, Sister. Grandma in February. Sister in March. Cousin in October. Friend in September. Then there were birthdays and holidays. Most of my family is gone. I have a couple of siblings, some nieces and nephews. There is my husband and his family, too. But all of my joys, my traditions, my reasons for feeling connected and happy in this world, were gone. I was so lost. So why, on this day, the day after Thanksgiving, was I so desperate? Because the night before, my best friend, Tina, had died of cancer. She was the fourth person close to me who had died in a matter of 18 months. I was done. I was done losing those I loved. I wanted to be with them. I could not take another day of not being able to speak to them, to confide in them, to laugh with them or to celebrate with them. With each death, my joy disappeared. I simply had no desire to

breathe one more breath. But I had to get up. I had to fix the cherry pie, which I burned. I had to make the cheesecake, which I burned. I had to try and put on a brave face with my husband’s family, and I failed. I cried on and off throughout the day. I don’t remember much else. Tina had so much joy. Her laugh was contagious. She never failed at anything, from what we could tell. She was wicked smart and believed in living hard, laughing hard, and working hard. She was my inspiration each day. The day after Thanksgiving, I remembered what Tina had asked me to do, just five days before. She asked me to promise her that I would take yoga teacher training. Ugh. Not what I wanted to do. But that promise, her words, my agreement, were overtaking my brain. It was like she was nagging me to fulfill the one thing I didn’t want to do more than anything else in the world. I was 100 pounds overweight, my body was already dying with a disease I still hadn’t found a name for, and I was tired. I had no business being in a yoga teacher training course. But there was Tina’s voice in my head, telling me to enroll. So I did. It wasn’t really on a whim. I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching. I loved yoga. And it was something that Tina and I had talked about at length during her illness. I was just so desperate with grief that I had no desire to function, let alone challenge my sick body and my exhausted mind. On the first night, I had to talk myself into going with abusive words. But when I got there, an old friend whom I hadn’t seen since the passing of her husband was there. It was like Tina had orchestrated this whole thing. She put me with someone who knew deep grief too. I was never more grateful to have her on this journey with me. I wish I could tell you that it was easy and that things were all sunshine and rainbows. But true change is destructive and painful. And this, as it turned out, was true change. Month after month, journal entry after journal entry, yoga pose after yoga pose, I wept. I sobbed. I screamed and continued to pray for relief from this hell. And then I stopped crying as much. I stopped screaming as much. I was diagnosed and was getting treatment for Hashimoto’s disorder and PTSD. My body got stronger. And after 12 months of deep work, of learning and un-learning, of pleasure and pain, I graduated with my

KANSAS CITY EEVOLVING...IN VOLVING…IN K ANSAS C ITY

certificate. And so did my friend. We had laughed and cried and screamed our way through this experience, only to come out stronger and happier on the other side. On our last weekend, we were asked to share what yoga had given us. I responded, tears in my eyes and barely breathing, “My life back.” But it was so much more than that. I got my joy back. You see, as I learned to breathe, to relax and to surrender, I discovered that the strength and wisdom of each of those that I love, that have gone on before me, was within me too, pushing me to engage in life again. It wasn’t just Tina anymore. I could feel all of them: my parents, grandparents, sisters and loved ones. I could hear them encouraging me to move forward and to follow my dream. Helping me to find my joy and to follow it. I still wasn’t sure what it was going to be, but I was listening. I changed jobs and am going back to college for interior design. It is so far outside of anything I have ever done, but I am finding that I love colors and textures and beauty. I love helping people create a sacred space in their homes. I love seeing the joy on their faces when they are happy to invite someone into their home. It brings me joy. And I would have never known it if I had not felt like dying some 18 months ago. Tina, and the deaths of my loved ones, taught me something…not to waste my precious life grieving their deaths. Tina had her path. I am grateful it crossed mine for more than 30 years. But her path isn’t my path. Mine is to live out this life with her joy and my joy intertwined. And I plan to express that joy until our paths cross again. Her death gave me that courage. I love her for that.

“Tina, and the deaths of my loved ones, taught me something…not to waste my precious life grieving their deaths.”

10 Reasons for Celebrating You

I

"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." —Oprah Winfrey

don't know about you, but for me I tend to be an ambitious woman that sets goals, then I go through my checklist and start checking them off. There's a sense of pride, a smile, maybe a minor celebration and I move on to the next goal on the list without any real celebration. When did we stop celebrating? Why are we so caught up in the end results and not making time to honor and celebrate ourselves. This is no longer going to be this way; I have vowed to start honoring all my accomplishments, big and small. It is time to celebrate me for who I am and I encourage you to do the same thing if you are not someone that rewards yourself for all of your wins. Here are 10 reason for celebrating you: 1. You get to enjoy the journey besides the destination. If you're always doing, doing, doing and checking goals off your list, it's never going to be enough. Why not instead, enjoy the journey? If you're able to stop, celebrate, savor the

BY TANIA VASALLO

moment, and then move on to the next thing it's going to make the journey so much more enjoyable. 2. Celebrating yourself, raises your confidence. The more you celebrate yourself and who you are being, the easier it becomes, your confidence rises, you'll walk around with a smile, your energy will be better, there will be a certain glow to you. Don't you think people will pick up on this? Go out, boost your confidence with an acknowledgment or celebration of yourself. 3. If you don't celebrate yourself then who will celebrate you? There's only one of YOU, that is as unique and special as YOU are. Everything that you set an intention on doing or being, is worthy of celebration. If you don’t focus on your celebration others won’t either. You need to set the stage for yourself to be celebrated and for others to join in. 4. You deserve to be honored. It's so easy for us to focus on all the things that we're not doing right, what we could've done differently, what we should've done. How about instead of beating ourselves down we can start

building ourselves up? The way to do it is by honoring and celebrating yourself. 5. Celebrate to feel good. The more you celebrate yourself, the better you feel, the better you feel, the more you will attract good things into your life. Then it just becomes a a cycle: the more you attract good things into your life, the better you feel, the better you feel; the more reason to celebrate yourself and on and on the cycle goes. 6. Celebrating yourself will breed joy. If there’s a big dream or goal that you’d like to get accomplished, visualize your intention of what it would look like once you accomplished it and what kind of celebration you would do. If it’s to loose weight, will you treat yourself to a day at the spa? Or a new workout outfit? If your dream is to write a book? Will you travel to an exotic location? How will you celebrate it? Think of the end result first to carry you through the process. Indirectly, you’re setting yourself up for breeding the joy. 7. Celebrating yourself will inspire others. I feel like many women tend to forget about themselves because

they’re always taking care of others. It’s time to turn this around. If you can go out and do something nice for yourself you will be setting an example for others in your life. Go out, celebrate yourself in whatever way makes you feel good and be an inspiration to those around you. 8. When you celebrate yourself you’re fueling your creativity . If you are constantly doing, reaching the next goal and not celebrating, or just having a momentary glimpse of fulfillment, then you are no longer enjoying the process. If you do pay attention to what you just did (big or small) by acknowledging it and celebrating it, you are creating space for more creativity to express itself. 9. Celebrating gives you a reason for being . Think about all the cultures where they’ve celebrated rights of passage, big events like becoming a man or a woman, getting married, a birth of a child, etc. We have let go of a lot of these rituals and when we do that, we are left with a void, we are taking away our meaning. That’s why it’s important to create these moment of celebration for who we are and what we do. 10. Celebrating You, zaps that need for approval . Many times we get so caught up in the end result that we are looking for that pat on the back, that “congratulations,” those 15 seconds of fame, all to be validated by others. If you can celebrate and acknowledge yourself for what you just did and work that muscle it will be much easier to eliminate the need to be approved by others. Stop and think about what you have accomplished this week, or who you are as an individual and go out and celebrate yourself! You deserve it! BRIDGING SCIENCE & SPIRIT

Spiritual Horoscope

July 2016 Cancer (June 21 – July 22) Happy birthday Cancer! Declare to the Universe what you want to manifest — but before you do, examine what blocks you from receiving your wishes. It’s easy to blame someone else, especially your relationship partner, but meditate to see if old beliefs are stopping your bliss. Blast through those limitations, then state your birthright with clarity and watch it flow in! It’s also a great prosperity month! Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

Remember your body believes every word you say, so observe your statements and see how they reflect on your health. (Like “I can’t can’t stand this”, and you have knee or lower back problems.) If you have challenges with family members, try doing fun activities together that you both love. Edginess abates and communication flows. If single, you can start a new relationship, or current one feels refreshed and delightful.

Focus on prosperity affirmations and watch them come true in career and finances! Also, don’t speak harsh words about your relationship, or talk negatively about love possibilities if single. Meditate to let go of limiting beliefs and put thought to what you want to believe. Your mind has so much power, so put it to work for you in the right direction! Also, this positivity unleashes healing energy for your body.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

Like Scorpio pals who need to speak positive about love, you need to speak and think abundantly about money! If partnered, team up for meditations that visualize what you both want to manifest, and don’t be afraid to be specific about amounts and timing. Forgive money issues such as people who borrowed from you and never paid back, or times you had to borrow from others. Also release past love betrayals since astrologically, trust issues link with finances.

Be aware that fear of intimacy can make you critical of those you love as a protective mechanism. Meditate to see how you can push people away when you actually want them close, leading to lots of confusion. Tell people you love them and that you’re working on yourself. Be extra kind to yourself, since you’re the biggest target of your barbs! Also, you make uplifting new friends who bring out your best as you heal and grow.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22) Libra craves balance, but can be addicted to non-balance. Awesome things happen in goals, career and relationships, but watch how you find the one unfulfilled area and feel bad in the midst of so much good! Meditate on gratitude and get comfortable with joy. It’s ironic you’re uncomfortable with harmony, but you’ll really grow when you’re aware of and heal the undercurrent of stress you’re accustomed to feeling. Let go of feeling you need to fix life and just enjoy it!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19) Like your Virgo friends, you’re challenged not not push intimacy away. Meditate on your lovableness. You deserve affection, comfort and commitment — from others and from yourself! Now you can receive what’s being offered. Changing your house around opens up your mind. By shaking up your daily environment, even in small ways, you’ll trigger new “quantum realities”. Also, breakthroughs with money happen late July.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Relationships are healing in major ways! And if single, you can start a wonderful connection. Watch out for being busy with dumb things to fend off intimacy. Meditate on your heart opening. Envision receiving love so you don’t feel awkward in “real life” when it comes at you! You might have a friend who needs a boost believing they’ll find love. You can help by gently pointing out limiting ideas that block love, now that you’ve healed yours.

What beliefs are in the way of truly enjoying life? Journal about these ideas and then meditate on them, asking yourself, “What would it be like if I didn’t believe this was true?” Then create new concepts that would make you feel joyous and fulfilled and meditate on that possible reality. With quantum Uranus turning retrograde you can live from new possibilities and change your world! Tell a trusted friend about the changes you’re making so you can have the support you need to live from your future truth!

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20) Speak kindly to your body if you have physical or emotional issues. Use positive affirmations and also say “No!” to negative ideas or uncomfortable symptoms. Let your body know that your brain is in charge. Your moods will shift and your entire being will feel protected and safe. Now healing is inevitable! Interesting solutions to money problems also arise as your mind relaxes. Don’t make relationship decisions until you feel peaceful and centered.

Aries (March 21 – April 19) Uranus turns retrograde in your sign, which can make you edgy and impatient. But if you meditate and reflect, you’ll see glitches in your plans. Going slower at this time helps correct mistakes before they happen. In general, ask the Universe to show you new ways to approach relationships and work. Also be open to different ideas about yourself and your identity. Exciting changes will unfold now through the rest of the year!

Gemini (May 21 – June 20) Affirmations are awesome, but for them to work, you need to say a strong “No!” to dissolve limiting beliefs that block good stuff. This is especially true with financial ideas and with emotional/ sexual intimacy issues and fear of betrayal. Tearing down the old structure of thought lets you rebuild on solid ground. New relationships come in or current ones greatly improve. Money abundance flows in, too! Aluna Michaels is a second-generation astrologer and soul evolutionist practitioner.
