An Unprecedented Need What happens now matters; housing impacts health, well-being and economic productivity.

Refugees are housed in the same shelter material used to house British soldiers at the end of WWII. These provisions last months, not years, leaving families in dire conditions before more aid dollars are mobilized to continue to put a bandaid on the problem. It’s time for a change.

How we work Our process keeps the voice and needs of refugees central. Refugees understand their needs best. As such, the design process starts in the field. Ideas are generated either from direct input or observations.

Those ideas are workshopped through focus group discussions and direct interviews. If an idea is worth pursuing, we begin to prototype and pilot. This allows refugees to give input to tangible goods.

After two years, they had almost no issues as compared to the standard tarp which will leak and tear within a few months. After seeing this, the idea of Every Billboard A Shelter was born.

Improving health from the ground up

Many refugees live directly on the dirt and that’s a problem

The impact of introducing flooring to a shelter includes significant improvements to health outcomes by reducing exposure and disease, the improved ability to clean and sanitize, higher sleep quality and the indirect benefits those factors have on improved nutrition, learning and economic outcomes.

We manufacture this critical life-saving intervention as close to the need as possible and distribute it through key relief agency partnerships. With adequate funding, we are poised to reach hundreds of thousands with this critical life-saving intervention.

Emergency Floor is quickly deployable and lightweight, taking less than 10 minutes to install by first time users.

Refugees need tarps that last for years, not months. Weak tarps leave millions of refugees In dire conditions until a new tarp arrives.

At the same time, over 800 million square feet of billboards—the equivalent of 14,000 football fields—is produced in the US every year with no useful second life. One billboard is the plastic equivalent of nearly 50,000 plastic straws or 4,400 grocery sacks. The

SOLUTION # 3

Providing Resilience to DisasterImpacted Families

Partnering with Uber Freight, NVOAD and the Billboard Industry We mounted a tremendous response to support hurricane victims. Joining forces with Outfront Media, Lamar Advertising and dozens of independent billboard operators across the United States and supported by the Uber Freight fleet we moved 4200 used billboard vinyls (representing 94 tons of plastic!) to families impacted by 2020’s unprecedented hurricane season. These disaster tarps are at least 10 times more durable than standard issue tarps, easier to install, and provide families with the protection and resilience they need to rebuild their lives. We are currently working with corporations, advertising agencies and disaster response groups to develop the product and supply chains necessary to expand this impact.

Creating market access to shelter tools and skills

Shelter Depot is the creation of an entrepreneurial marketdriven ecosystem in a camp.

Shelter Depot addresses critical shelter supply market gaps in protracted refugee communities by providing the resources, tools and training necessary to develop a culture of building and shelter-improvement. Designed to be community-owned, it provides employment opportunities while encouraging entrepreneurship, skill training and supply chain integration with surrounding communities. By developing market ties and skill development, Shelter Depot is positioned to help aid agencies and communities promote resilience and develop pathways to sustainability.
